Wireless USB Modem Stick

We have good news for Mac users and bad news for PC users? I believe you’d like to hear the bad news first. Well, PC users, you don’t have now the possibility to replace your cell phone with the wireless modem with memory stick function from nova media, which would allow you to connect your laptop computer to the Internet without wires, because it was designed for Macintosh computers. And so, the good news for Mac users is that in addition to this, the new Icon 401 wireless USB modem stick with your computer worldwide via HSUPA, 3G UMTS, EDGE and GPRS.![]()
Of course, you’ll still need your SIM card to enable the wireless connectivity for data transmission, which you have to place into the modem, while the software that will run on your computer will finish the setup using the launch2net wizard.
If you have High Speed Uplink Packet Access you’ll be able to setup Internet connections with up to 7.2Mbit.sec in download and 2Mbit/sec in uplink, while with the EDGE or GPRS standards you’ll enable downloads of up to 220kbit/sec speeds and 80 kbit/sec uploads.
iCON 401 wireless USB modem stick uses the Receiver Diversity and Equalization advanced receiver technology and comes with a microSD card slot for the memory stick function. Also, you have the special connector for an external antenna to boost the transmission places with poor signal.
The new modem won a Red Dot Award this year for the Product Design 2008 category and is a smart device enabling one-click Internet connectivity with no cryptic configuration requirements. In addition, it shows the time and data consumption of your online sessions.

Nova media provides the modem at a price of EUR 199 and supports Mac OS X 10.4.3 or higher. It measures 81.8 x 27 x 16.5 mm at just 40 grams.
