WiFi Camera Umbrella

WiFi Camera Umbrella

Rainy days are so boring and when you are obliged to walk your way through a nasty deluge, it gets even more boring, in spite of the umbrella you are carrying. That wouldn’t be entirely true if you somehow happened to be using a Pileus WiFi Camera umbrella.

The Pileus umbrella seems quite awkward at first. But take a second to think about it. The umbrella has a built-in waterproof camera that you can use to shoot pictures in the rain, and that’s not all. It also integrates a GPS system and a digital compass that uses Google Earth so you can safely find your way through the flooded areas. The guys from SharpEdge even say that the concept could include a video camera as well, in the near future. We don’t have any information on the actual quality of the camera. Is it a 1.3 MP obsolete one or is it a decent 3-5 MP with practical features? We’ll wait and see.

The Pileus is invented by some Japanese geeks and is also able to upload your snapshots to Flickr. With a wireless Internet connection in place, the photos you manage to shoot can be easily uploaded to Flickr at the touch of a button on the handle. Or even better; on the non-exposed surface of the umbrella you can browse photos directly from the Flickr website with a simple snap of a wrist.

I though the UK people liked rainy weather and stuff like this, but Japanese people really find some ingenious ways to transform a mundane situation into something geeky.Though I can't quite understand how you can manage to see where you're going while you're looking at your ubrella.
