I’ve made a collection of cool unique novelty lamps designed in Italy by FontanaArte, a company that was present with new lighting products at Milan Design Week 2008. The style got my attention and I wanted to select the most innovative designs to show them to you.

The first lamp called 100 Metri is a table model with dimmer designed by Alberto Zecchini, and spreads the light through the transparent glass. The electrical cord is also transparent, same as the dimmer and the plug.

Giova by Gae Aulenti can be placed on a table with a nice flowers arrangement in the pot. It features a chrome-plated metal base and a middle transparent globe. The internal globe is white polished and made of opal glass. The pink flowers support is blown glass with bubbles.

Roberto Menghi created the Globo di Luce (the Light Globe) table lamp with dimmer from metallised blown glass and chrome-plated metal base. Inside it sports an anodized aluminum reflector. Same as in the case of the 100 Metri model, it features transparent electric cable, dimmer and plug.

Another available model is Uovo (Egg) from Archivio Storico, a table lamp with dimmer designed with white metal frame and a white diffuser made of satined blown glass.

Future Systems has the floor lamp called Flora. It looks like a plant that grows from the floor and can be installed into the ground. The flower’s stem is made of polished aluminum using the hydroforming technology. Its diffuser is white blown glass, polished.

Polaris by Marco Acerbis is a floor lamp with a varnished nylon structure made using the rotation moulding process and features a satin steel base. This patent pending design can come in glossy white, glossy black or with glossy amethyst frame.

Marco Merendi conceived Toobo, a floor lamp with double light emission, direct and indirect. It has an aluminum body and separate switching.

Marco Acerbis’s Vertigo unique novelty lamps with dimmer can be nicely placed on the floor and they feature indirect light emission from a folded aluminum sheet structure. It is a patent pending design which can come with mirror finish or anodized, white and black aluminum.

Diamante was designed by Gae Aulenti and Piero Castiglioni and it is a wall lamp with die-cast aluminum frame and a diffuser made of pressed, tempered glass. It is available already on the market.

The last unique novelty lamps are called Somni and were designed by Metis. They are suspension lamps mounted in matt-white epoxy-powder coated metal. The shade disc comes in extra clear tempered satin-finish white glass or red satin-finish. The bowl is blown glass. All are available on the US market.

Cool lamps! I would love to buy the 100 Metri lamp!
My favorites are Globo di Luce, Loop and Flora.

I found this really cool novely lamp that you may want to add to your website. It looks exactly like a little carryout carton from a Chinese restaurant!
