The story of the Trojan Horse is a part of the mythical Trojan War, as it was described in Virgil's Latin epic poen The Aeneid. I know this may sound boring to you, but the link taking us into the computer world is a fact of this story. To make a long story short, the Trojan Horse was a trick that helped warriors enter a stronghold that couldn't be conquered, by hiding inside it.

In our days, this term is often used to describe a program that contains malicious code. The way it works is simple - while you think the software you just installed does one thing, the reality is different. For example, a Trojan can install a backdoor program to allow unauthorized access to your computer. Pretty nasty, isn't it? Don't worry, we have something that can help you avoid such threats!

Trojan Remover 6.6.1 is a software application created specially for removing this type of evil computer programs, and it's available for a 30 days trial. The good part is that you get all the features of the full program available for this period, so you won't happen to see a "register to remove threats" message, as it happens with most similar programs. The setup package has 6.1MB in size, and the setup process is as easy as you can see in the screenshots below...

Interface

Unlinke other similar products, Trojan Remover doesn't look amazing. In fact, this program looks ancient. As you work with it, the active window will grow or shrink as the context requires, which is not really nice, in my opinion. The good part is that using this application is very easy, and that's what really matters in the end, after all.


Features

First thing to do after installing an antivirus, antispyware or other security program is to update it. My advice is to choose to update the program and the additional files too, as you can see in the screenshot to the left. The process shouldn't take too long, but that depends on the speed of your Internet connection, of course.

While using the program to scan for Trojans on my computer, I didn't find any, as I was hoping, but the good part is that Trojan Remover scanned the programs that load with Windows too... or should load. What's so good about it? Think about the following scenario - a program that you uninstalled left its traces in your registry, and now you can remove them when prompted.

This program also includes a database with the names of the threats it can remove and a description for some of them. Other than that, I can say that scanning is pretty fast, and I got far less false alarms than with other similar programs.


The Good

Trojan Remover is a small and easy to use solution for improving your computer's security. Although it can't shield you entirely against all viruses, this program does what it was designed for, and a bit more. Even real time scanning of running processes and downloaded files is included, and the moderate price of the license allows you to install Trojan Remover on up to 3 additional computers for no extra charge!

The Bad

I have only one regret regarding this program - its interface doesn't match the features hidden inside, and that's all.

Conclusion

To be honest, at this time I use only an all-in-one antivirus solution, the Windows XP firewall and no other tool, but in the future I may reconsider my position, and one of the programs I add to my list now is Trojan Remover. Even if you feel secure, grab this program and give it a try, after all, you can have it for a month, so you can decide to purchase or not after some serious testing...
