The new Laptop Cooling Stand from Belkin
Published by Sierra Monica B., on Nov 08 2007, in the categories: Gadgets

Belking, a company from California, specialized in providing people with seamless electronics integration in their homes, cars, and on the go.
Recently it has announced its latest product, a cooling stand for notebooks that will be released soon on the market.
The Belkin Laptop Cooling Stand is a lightweight device, easy to wear under your laptop, which works after being plugged into one of the USB ports.
It will keep your notebook cool for the best performance, while the wave design which uses natural convection is enhancing its fan's power.
You won’t need to use power adapters because the stand uses low power consumption via the USB port.

Belkin will offer it at a price of $29.99 and considers it very comfortable for typing because it has a gentle slope and more than that it reduces neck strain by raising the screen height, and also fits very well in your laptop bag.
It comes with a convenient storage compartment for the USB cable when it is not in use, and not at last, its grips pads are preventing your notebook from slipping.

I bought one of those exact models and it was broken within 24 hours. I also had bought one for my girlfriend at the same time; hers lasted for about a month and a half. I now have a Targus laptop cooler that works MUCH better. It has 2 fans whereas the belkin had 1. It has lasted for several months now and I haven't had a problem with it at all. I do highly recommend getting a laptop cooler for a couple of reasons: most importantly to keep the laptop from getting so hot...which is VERY helpful if you like to work with the laptop on your lap! The Targus one is exactly the same price for twice the value (2 fans); AND the laptop sits much more securely on the Targus cooler as it is flat and not curved like the belkin version. here's a link to see one -

well, it looks neat .... never personally owned one, or even known anyone who had one; so I don't really know much from experience. I would only have one problem with it; it seems like you would have to put it up higher than normal for it to be comfortable to type ... I personally like to have the laptop at eye level, or lower ...or even on my lap which would not be an option with the tripod.
