The need for an improved Bluetooth technology that would be easier to use, made The Bluetooth Special Interest Group to introduce a new version, Bluetooth 2.1+Enhanced Data Rate.
CSR, Infineon and Texas Instruments and Broadcom are the component’s manufacturers.
The new standards are demanding less power that will lead to the increasing of the battery life by up to 5 times.
Security is improved because of the simple 6 digit password unlike the 16 digit previous one that was a random alphanumeric character PIN code.
Paired devices will connect much faster because of the NFC (Near Field Communication) technology that comes with the new version.
The process of connecting two devices consists of three easy steps:
1. Turning on the headset
2. Selecting the "Add Bluetooth device" option
3. The phone and headset finding each other and connect automatically
The new Bluetooth 2.1 is expected on the market by the end of the year.
