The Flexible Silicone Rubber Keyboard

A silicone rubber PC keyboard at just $5.24? Sounds incredibly cheap, but let’s see what it is about!
Here is the Flexible Silicone Rubber PC Keyboard from Chinavasion online store, made of quality silicon rubber that can be carried anywhere and packed even in a small purse.

The Flexible Silicone Rubber Keyboard

It features plug and play capability and is compatible with Microsoft operating systems up to Windows XP. Oops! This is one black point.
At least it uses USB and PS/2 connectivity and doesn’t require installation.

The Flexible Silicone Rubber Keyboard

The keyboard has 109 keys/buttons, is a QWERTY standard and works between -5 and +50 degrees Celsius.
It is described as being virtually indestructible and water resistant, dust proof, washable, with the following dimensions: 136 x 490 x 3 mm.

    I own one. It comes with instructions that says "do not fold or roll to store". I tried it and it broke. Fortunately, usb.gizmodo sent me another one.

    I've had one for several years, too. It's really good, too, and well worth the money. {Although mine's getting shabby because I accidentally...kind of tore off a key...luckily it's one of the blank ones next to the space bars. And it's covered with duct tape.}

    The ones with the lower keys are the ones that suck. A lot. {By lower keys, I mean like the ones in the picture.}

    You had one but not from the same producer.This one is flexible.

    You know what the problem is? The site doesn't specify at how many key strokes can it resist.
    All these silicon keyboards support a limited number of keystrokes.

    My girlfriend took one with her to Iraq to use with her laptop on base. The laptop is barely functional and missing keys. The usb keyboard still works and is in good condition. The only problem we have with it is that the letters rub off after time.

    Indestructible?? I'm quite sure if you dropped a cleaver through the middle of it you'd have 2 keyboards that don't work all of a sudden...

  • Sierra Monica B. said on 08/27/2008:

    Why would anyone do that?

  • fornetti said on 08/31/2008:

    I do not believe this

    What don’t you believe, fornetti?

    Hi,

    Who is producing these things? I am looking to buy them in greater quantities.

  • Sierra Monica B. said on 10/13/2008:

    The Flexible Silicone Rubber PC Keyboard costs 4.04 EUR, but the price lowers up to 3.56 EUR based on wholesale levels. The link leads you to the largest China wholeseller. Hope this helps, Rik.

    Hey Monica,
    The product description doesn't say whether this keyboard is compatible with Windows Vista or not. I have a Vista on my hp laptop. Do you have any idea whether this will work? Please let me know. This is by-far the cheapest I have found!! Also, Have you ever bought anything with ChinaVasion? Whats their shipping costs like?
    Thanks Heaps!!

  • Sierra said on 10/20/2008:

    Imti, I asked the customer support about this and they said it's not compatible with Vista, so I have to recommend you the wireless version of this keyboard, which is better and has more features in addition to the 2.4GHz technology and flexibility.

    I have been looking for one of these for years at a reasonable privce and got one for about $16 (USD) in Poland. They are amazing for people who travel. I have a small solid keyboard that I bought several years ago and it is certaijnly goos also. Howver, the rubber one is so light to carry, and I only need it for small document corrections when I travel. It is much easier to use than typing on a laptop believe me.
