The First Search Engine for Women Launched
Posted by: Sierra Monica B. in News

The last book I read was Famous Women from the Ancient World, and this was a couple of years ago.
It was interesting and it gave me enough information about all the ancient women that had something to do with the position of a leader, like Cleopatra for example.

What I didn’t like was that the author left his misogynistic fingerprint on the facts he wrote about, and besides that, to be the mistress of an Egyptian pharaoh and involve in killing the others throne pretenders does not make me feel proud I’m a woman.
What women need to know is the true stories of those women in the history that really changed something in good, and the new search engine called Goo-Woman is the right tool to get such information, as it finds and displays only results about women.
The team that built the new search engine created it for women based on Google’s Custom Search Engine which uses keywords related to women.

As Goo-Woman displays women-related results on the first places, it cannot be considered a substituent to Google or Yahoo or other search engines you chose as your home page.
It was created as a symbol, as Goo-Woman creators said: "It's just a symbolic gesture to remember that there is still a lot of work before we can talk of real equality between men and women. But, being symbolic doesn't prevent it from being completely useful".
"We really hope that our work will be useful for a lot of people, but our only real desire is that in the near future we can disable our search engine and put instead a very big text: This site has been closed due to the achievement of equality between women and men".
