Kids nowadays are different from what I know about the “young generation”, and I can say that I’m glad I had the chance to grow up in a different environment, because I feel like I became a much more responsible adult than our kids will be.

They spend much of their free time in front of their personal computers, living their lives in virtual worlds when no one is able to intrude their presence on them. It’s not a healthy lifestyle, I bet we all know this, but it’s not like we do something about it. And it’s wrong.

However, designers Hugo Kretz and Marc Haldemann have come up with an innovative solution to determine sedentary kids to exercise as much as they can. Their idea consists of the Animate portable device concept.

The Animate comes with a set of features that is aimed at leaving a very good impression on the children, such as: a camera, an MP3 player and a wrist watch band. In addition, it comes with communication features and, of course, some videogames. There’s a very ingenious game for the kids to play, similar to hide and seek, that you can see in the video below.

I suppose it would be a great device for your little ones, especially if they’re keen on having the latest gadgets in the market, so I sure hope it will soon become reality.
