TextAloud 2.260 Text-to-Speech Converter
Posted by: Sierra Monica B. in Software

TextAloud is a program which is able to convert any kind of text into real speech, saving your time and effort on reading, allowing you to move freely around your desk while listening to the voice.
What I meant by “any kind of text†was text documents but also e-mails and news!

Version 2.260 has the following changes:
-MyDocuments can be made available for file output browse;
-Multi-language support for PDF documents;
-Fixed occasional array index out of bounds bug in file splitter;
-Fixed word highlighting issue in proofread window;
-Better checks for how much disk space is available when writing audio files;
-Fix for exception on tip of day form;
-Fix for speed change causing error on some Neo Asian voice installs.
TextAloud can be set to save the readings in MP3 format so you can listen to them the next day directly on your
iPod, PocketPC or Tivo.
The voices you will hear are very pleasant, natural, being brought from NeoSpeech and Cepstral, which are premium voices, but also AT&T Natural Voices.
The evaluation version available for free does not include the premium voices.
You can get the optional premium voices after you purchase the program.
The latest version brings a new look which is better shown in the Multi-Article Mode, in the new toolbar options for changing the size of the icons, and in the skinnable screen reader.
Other improvements are the customization of fonts, appearance of the voice/pitch feature on the main window, support for RTF, DOC, HTML and PDF files, batch file conversion, possibility to change the voice while it reads an article, proofreading key, bookmarks, Internet Explorer plug-in toolbar which contains a speaker icon, stop, copy, options and voice selection icons, and many other features.
The number of features and its friendly interface made TextAloud one of the most popular text-to-speech tools.
