SpiralFrog to Offer Songs for Free

SpiralFrog to Offer Songs for FreeSpiralFrog.com has struggled to find an alternative to pirate file-sharing sites, and found the solution in offering hits for free in exchange of viewing ads and answering to questionnaires about the people’s buying habits.
SpiralFrog earns from the advertising and the total sum is split with the labels and music publishers.

The users have to wait for 90 seconds before downloading the song they like but they can’t be burned on CDs. They can only be transferred to Windows-compatible mobile players and phones.
This is not a big impediment though because according to a NPD Entertainment survey among Americans, people with ages between 13 and 17 prefer to use portable music players.

When a user registers to the website demographic filters are used to determine what kind of ads the users see when they are on the site.

Joe Mohen, chairman and founder of New York-based SpiralFrog, shows us the good part of this, saying that “there’s no threat of viruses, adware or spyware,” because “with SpiralFrog you always know what you're getting”.

SpiralFrog service was scheduled to launch Monday in the U.S. and Canada.
