Spherical Eris watch
Posted by: Maria Mihale in Gadgets

Eris is said to be the largest dwarf planet that is already known by people (because there might be more in the Solar System that we haven’t had the chance to know by now) and it was discovered sometime in past couple of years. Eris has a diameter of approximately 2,500 kilometers, being 27% more massive than the funniest planet (as far as I’m concerned), Pluto.

You might ask why I considered this information to be relevant, but you’ll see that I have good reasons to tell you about this planet. The designers of the watch I’m about to present to you in the following lines have borrowed the name for their device.
As you can easily imagine, the spherical watch is way smaller than the planet, even if it’s a dwarf one. Created by students from l’Ecole d’Arts Appliqués Genèva, the $450 watch is a Swiss product by Pierre Junod Switzerland.
You can wear it as a pocket watch, if you like, but you can also wear it as a pendant or, why not, as a desk clock. The materials that were used for this watch include the white hour hand, the orange minute hand, anthracite anodized aluminum case, mineral glass and Swiss quartz movement. The figures were engraved using the laser technology, while the strap is made of natural rubber.
If you wonder how the time is displayed, then look at the two pointers that surround the equator. The minutes are indicated by the pointer placed in the upper hemisphere, while the hours are indicated by the one placed below.
