Did you know that the “XP” from the name of the indestructible cell phone known as Sonim XP1 comes from “Xtreme Performance”? We’ve just found out and, more than this, the company that produces the world’s toughest handset released a new version designed to be even more durable than the first one. It is called Sonim XP3 and is completely waterproof. You all will be able to get your hands on it in time for Christmas, and now let’s see which the specs are.
Sonim Technologies revealed that XP3 supports more shocks and drops than the older brother and you can keep it under water, at one meter, for up to 30 minutes with no problems. That’s because it features an IP-57 rating and the Mil-Spec rating of 810F against salt, fog humidity, transport and thermal shock. In addition, you can type on its keyboard as much as you like, as it supports up to 500,000 pushes.

Bob Plaschke, CEO of Sonim Technologies, added that the new indestructible phone works perfectly at -20C or at +60C, being the best cell phone for people who work in the harshest environments.
To match its ruggedness characteristics, Sonim XP3 comes with a 1180 mAh battery to keep operating for up to 5.5 hours of talk time and nine days in standby mode. It is packed with a 3-year warranty as well.
The price is high, as expected after finding out what it can do, and reaches £245 without a contract, but if you like Vodafone’s services you could get the new indestructible cell phone for free in yellow/black or black, with a new agreement.
