Skullcandy MFM Pro Headphones

Ok, there must be something wrong with me: this is the second article I write which describes a skull shaped or skull named innovative device, and it all happened in just a couple of hours. I can’t think of a logical explanation for something like this to occur, so it must be a coincidence.

Skullcandy, the fancy headphone maker, has just revealed a new set of headphones – the Marc Frank Montoya 1 gig Headphone - that comes with an embedded portable media player, removing the need for wires of any kind. This is the closest thing to injecting your music directly into your skull. The device is the first to include Qualcomm’s innovative mirasol display technology.

The Skullcandy MFM Pro headphones have a slot-in PMP that can be used either with the over-the-ear headphones, either with any other sort of earbuds, thanks to the standard 3.5 mm audio socket.

For the first time, Skullcandy introduces a DJ style headset with a built-in, detachable MP3 player. You can listen to your music wirelessly through 40mm power drivers or you can pull the player, slide on the battery pack and transform it into a mini portable MP3 player so you can change songs sort through your music. It also has a headphone jack, therefore if you want you can use it with any other set of headphones. The LCD display has back light, while the Flash memory for music or data is of 1 GIG.

I must agree with the fact that the design is innovative and actually cool, but the convenience of not having to carry a music player is compensated by the added bulkiness and the necessity of sliding the PMP out of the headphones every time you want to change songs. The concept is interesting, there’s no doubt about it, and the reputation of Skullcandy for high-quality headphones is nothing but an advantage.

The headphones are available on Skullcandy’s official website, for a price of $169,95.
