Samsung Lavender Concept Phone

Published by Sierra Monica B., on Oct 07 2008, in the categories: mobile phones

A high-end cell phone looking like a sensual perfume bottle. I think this would be the best description in short words, of this cool cell phone concept.
Lavender is a concept idea of Andrew Kim, a 16-years old talented designer who posted its work on ProductDesignforums, 6 months after the design was completed.

Andrew thinks that “the aroma of lavender is a universal symbol of beauty and elegance” and that’s why he chose this sensual color for his cell phone concept, translating its beauty into a physical form.
Samsung Lavender seems to follow the company's design line with its overall form factor. It looks feminine and not…. has rounded edges, a soft look with mirror finish, being sophisticated and simple at the same time.

In addition to the fluid lines touched by deep violet and warm pink tones, it integrates a powerful speaker in the front part of the handset, and a Home button with a ruby-like shape and color, for spreading the light around it, just like a precious stone.

Samsung Lavender has 32GB storage capacity, built-in digital camera with a high number of megapixels and lots of other functionalities, while the Starlight LED lights placed like a circle surrounding the camera eye, start to pulsate during night together with the circular flash light, for providing perfect clear images, as well as adding a cool light show effect.

In the bottom part of the device you can find the USB port for PC connectivity secured by the magnetic latch system. More than that, it comes with a smart Lavender Light attachment system in charge with emitting UV light during charging, to destroy bacteria, maintaining the cell phone and your hands clean. Light is also emitted when you touch the phone’s display with touch-sensitivity.
It can’t look like a perfume bottle without the fragrance, so the handset has also a refillable perfume dispenser made of plastic, with a spray nozzle that activates as you press the metal head. You can keep it in your clothing using the special clip.

If we take a closer look at the software and user interface we discover a cool Home screen displaying the date, time, as well as access to emails, stocks and weather.
The coolest part of this is that, as you shake the handset, you can see the fragrance liquid in the background of the user interface, and this is actually an indicator for the battery life.
You can customize widgets, menus and play with different applications. Like Andrew described, there is an infinite number of possibilities. You just have to imagine…

(Thanks for the tip, Waikit!)

This is quite an amazing design for a 16 year old! I would truely expect this from a professional product designer.

I hope that this design will be made! I'm sure millions of people would love to buy this product, I know I would!
