Popcorn C-200 for the next generation
Posted by: Maria Mihale in Gadgets

Continuing the tradition created by the Popcorn Hour A-110, Syabas has just announced a brand new Internet settop box, which is going to be called Popcorn C-200 and expected to allow users to stream the digital content they prefer from sources like Internet or an internal hard drive to the television sets they own or to a home stereo.

One of the greatest advantages of the C-200 is the fact that is comes with support for a wide variety of Internet audio and video files, which are said to be more than 30. Relevant examples would be: AVI, H.264, MPEG1, 2, 4, MKV, Xvid and Windows Media, and many more.
So, you can stream the content you like from popular partner sites, just like when using the Hour A-110. Websites like BBC, CBS, CNET TV, CNN, NBC or YouTube are included. There are also Internet radio sites (take Live365 Radio, for example) and Image sites like Flickr and Picasa.
Other important features of the C-200 refer ti the wireless RF remote control, an LCD display, a Gigabit Ethernet connection, a front-loading drive, AVCHD format and navigation.
“In today’s tough economic times, there are people facing the decision to either cancel their cable subscription or their internet connection to make ends meetâ€, said Alex Limberis, the Syabas COO. He further added that “with a C-200, people can experience the best of both worlds, as a lot of compelling content is freely available on the Internet. Today, consumers want to watch programs when they want them, not when a network or cable company tells them it’s okayâ€.
The Popcorn C-200 will start selling sometime during July from PopcornHour. The package will consist of the following components: the C-200, the RF remote control, a HDMI cable, the quick start guide and the installation software.
