The Panasonic 8.1 megapixel Lumix digital camera is also known as the DMC-FX55 and it is a small and beautiful camera which is simple, easy to use and comes with a solid design, not to mention a pretty pink version that makes this camera appealing to all the ladies. Due to the fact that it is small and pretty, the Panasonic 8.1 megapixel Lumix digital camera does not come packed with a lot of high end technology features and it doesn’t take the most amazing and clear photos in the world so if you are looking to take professional pictures, this is definitely not the camera for you.

On the back of the camera you can find a 3 inch LCD that comes with a 230,000 pixels resolution. Thanks to the large joystick, you can easily access the menu and navigate though the controls. The user interface is friendly and operating the Panasonic 8.1 megapixel Lumix digital camera is a very easy task. This digital camera does not comes with manual exposure controls but you have different scene modes that manage to cover most shooting situations, quite confusing for the camera’s auto mode.

One new feature that comes with this digital camera is the intelligent Auto mode which is capable of activating features like intelligent ISO control, optical image stabilization, and even intelligent image selector which helps you analyze what is inside the frame and chooses whichever scene mode it believes to be appropriate according to the given situation. The last mode will also activate the continuous auto focus feature which means that you don’t have to press the shutter button halfway in order for the camera to pre-focus and helps you take a picture a lot faster than usual.

As you could probably guess from the title of this article, the Panasonic 8.1 megapixel Lumix digital camera comes with an 8.1 megapixel CCD sensor and a 3.6X optical zoom. At a full resolution, sensitivity varies from ISO 100 to ISO 1600. The High-Speed Burst mode that the camera offers will cost you some pixels. During lab tests, this camera performed decently. From the moment the camera was turned on and until you are able to take the first picture, you have to wait about 2.3 seconds. After that, it takes 1.8 seconds to take the next picture if the flash is disabled but with the flash turned on, the waiting period is extended to 2.3 seconds. 0.6 second is the shutter lag in the high contrast test and about 1.3 seconds in the low contrast set.

The white balance, exposure and colors are impressive but the image quality is slowly decreasing when it comes to the noise aspect. Unfortunately, the Panasonic 8.1 megapixel Lumix digital camera shows signs of noise even with the lowest sensitivity settings of the ISO 100. When moving up to ISO 400, the noise is starting to increase even more and more details are lost. Even so, it still makes a good choice for people that need a basic digital camera. As for the price, you can buy it for as low as $230 on different online stores.
