If someone asked me which I thought was the coolest looking laptop, I would have to say it is the Alienware m17x. Even if this is a monster in terms of size and weight, it comes with visual details that make it very appealing to the eye.



I know that some people are wondering what could this laptop possibly have to make it the coolest looking laptop on the market. The truth is that Alienware has thought a lot about the design of this unit. Right from the first time you touch this laptop, you can feel that only high quality materials have been used in the construction process. There is not the slightest amount of flex registered anywhere as this is a high strength aluminum chassis.

On the sides, the back lid and the bottom of the laptop you will see that smooth anodized aluminum has been used and on the palm rest lies a smooth finish. With all that aluminum used, this monster is heavier than 13 pounds. It is available in silver and black but if you want the red version, it is going to cost you an extra $99.



The lid is very solid because of the one piece aluminum construction which makes it difficult to twist the display in any direction. Even if you apply pressure on the back of the lid, you will notice there are no ripples on the screen. When you look at this laptop from the front, it really appears to be threatening. There are speakers grill placed near the palm rests. The AlienFX Feature is probably the one that you are going to love most about this laptop. by night, the whole thing basically lights up. I’m not sure if it resembles a space ship or just a smaller Christmas tree.

AlienFX is a system of LED lights which can be customized as you please. The laptop is divided into 10 lighting zones such as the keyboard, the speakers, the touchpad, the Alienware logo, the alien head located on the back of the lid, the power button or the media keys. Only the keyboard alone is divided into other 4 lighting zones. This means that users are capable of creating themes based on light. Not only that, but the folks at Alienware promised they would develop the AlienFX system to be compatible with games and you can get different colored zones that indicate the amount of health or ammo.



Another very interesting feature which is tied to the design of this laptop is the screw-less bottom side. When you flip the Alienware over you shall not notice any visible screws. Well, except for the ones that are holding that name plate where you can write your name and personalize the unit. This is something that you don’t see in other laptops. No matter how appealing the Alienware m17x sound at this time, this laptop could end up costing even $4000 depending on the configuration that you choose. It is, after all, a gaming laptop.

And besides, even if it didn’t have all this technolofy inside it, it would still be a cute monkey stuffed toy which I’m sure a lot of people would love to have around the house. The best part of it all is the $20 price tag which makes it in ideal gift for tech passionate with a sense of humor.



Sonic Slam is a set of racquets which work in a pretty unusual method. These wireless gadgets have been developed by Radica and they are going to allow you to play paddle ball without actually using a ball. This means that you can play this game inside the house when it’s raining outside without putting any pottery of vases in danger. These paddles are pretty similar to the Nintendo Wii consoles that allow you to hit virtual balls inside the game. There is a speaker integrated into the racquet and that is where you are going to hear when you hit the virtual ball.



Not only that, but these paddles are so smart that they can calculate the speed of your swings and they can also calculated the distance between you and the other players. You will hear the sound of the ball flying nearby in the game. The Sonic Slam is one set of paddles that come with all sorts or unique features like trick shots, voiced game prompts and sound effects. I think this game set is going to require a lot of imagination so you had better but your mind to work and come up with a real strategy for this virtual game.

I have been a fan of HTC cell phones ever since I can remember but I never thought that this was the best cell phone manufacturer. I have always given a lot of credit to Nokia and what this company has manages to achieve over the years as it has brought an amazing contribution to the mobile phone market. Even so, I came across the HTC myTouch 3G Slide which is one of the coolest phones I have ever seen. It has yet to be released on the market, but from the specs that come with this cell phone, I can tell that it is going to be one of the coolest phones of the year 2010.



Let me go through some of the basic things that this cell phone can do and I’ll let you decide if this phone is awesome or… awesome! First of all, you must know that the HTC myTouch 3G Slide offers support for both 2G (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900) and 3G networks (HSDPA 900 / 1700 / 2100). This cell phone was announced back in April 2010 but it shall be released in the following period. The dimensions of this cell phone are 115.6 x 60.2 x 15.2 mm while the total weight is 164.4 grams indicating that this is not exactly one of the smallest and lightest cell phones around. The display of this amazing phone measures no less than 3.4 inches which makes it huge and it comes with a 320 x 480 pixels resolution and support for 65K colors. Aside from having a superb touch screen, sliding the phone to the left is going to reveal a beautiful QWERTY keyboard which is excellent to use.



If you are concerned about not having enough memory for storage, thanks to the microSD card slot you can extend the memory of the cell phone up to 16 GB in case those 8 GB of included memory are not enough. It is nice to have a smart phone which has an included and decent camera and this HTC mobile phone does not disappoint us even at this chapter. With the included 5 MP sensor, the integrated camera of the myTouch is capable of taking pictures at a maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels and it comes with features like LED flash and autofocus. Android v 2.1 is the operating system that can be found on this mobile phone that comes with loads of other cool features like included games and GPS support.



Since a good smart phone has to come with a lot of cool applications, the HTC myTouch 3G Slide has Google Search, Google Talk, Google Maps, G-mail, Calendar, YouTube plus a document viewer that will allow you to mess around with Word, PowerPoint and Excel files. Not only that, but this cell phone also comes with an MP3 / WAV / eAAC+ music player and a MP4 / H.263 / H.263 video player. We’ll have to get back to you with details about the battery performance as nothing has been tested yet.

I have always been a movie passionate and come of the movies that I find most fascinating are the ones that involve some high-end technology innovations and equipment. In other words, science fiction rules! If you too are interested in such movies, let me give you some of the coolest movie trailers that I ever came across.



One of the coolest movie trailers that I ever saw was for the movie “The Italian Job”. The story of this movie is going to take the audience to Venice, Italy, where a group of expert thieves is planning a $35 million heist consisting in golden bars. Too bad that one of the group members gets greedy and plans his very own little heist: to run away with all the gold.

Years after, the team decides it’s about time they retire, but not before they have taken their revenge upon the man that betrayed them and so, they decide to take back what is rightfully theirs. In this movie, you shall see a lot of action, a lot of high-end safes that come with ingenious protection systems. You will also see a lot of hacking, some cool gadgets and lots of excitement to see which criminals get away with what robbery.



Another movie that I really enjoyed is one that combines technology with animation, bringing a movie for the entire family. Wall-E is a great animation movie brought to us by Disney’s Pixar which is famous for making some of the coolest animation movies ever. Wall-E is the name of a little robot which is responsible with… collecting the garbage left on planet Earth after mankind has abandoned this planet. The movie will seem pretty dull until Eve shows up. She is a modern robot sent to Earth to see if there is any possibility for this planet to sustain life once again.

Falling in love with Eve, Wall-E follows her to the mother ship where he discovers a bunch of the humans that once abandoned their planet. Since the ship where they have been living is equipped with all sorts of technology gadgets and gizmos meant to make life easier, the human race has become lazy and fat, drinking their meals with the help of a straw.



The plot thickens, as Wall-E discovers a plant on Earth which is green and it proves the soil is fertile. This is a problem for the auto pilot computer of the ship that does not want the human race to live on Earth ever again and so the action begins as Wall-E and Eva plan to bring the people where they rightfully belong by recovering the plant that was stolen from them, the one thing that can prove Earth is ready to receive its children again.

This movie is interesting, especially due to the way in which the massive ship was built and enhanced with all of cool devices, completely mechanical and electronically, controlled by a main computer. This really left me wondering, are robots really going to control everything in the future?

If someone would ask me which is thought was the coolest thing ever as far as cell phones are concerned, my answer would be the new Apple iPhone 4. I think this is the coolest thing ever because every time that Apple launches a new product I think “there can’t be anything better than this”. And yet, somehow, they manage to come up with these crazy, cool and hi-tech new gadgets every time.



The new iPhone 4 is definitely something spectacular that is going to rock the world of other cell phones. This cell phone measures 4.5 x 2.31 x 0.37 inches in dimensions while the total weight of this mobile phone is 4.8 ounces. You should know that this iPhone is available in the following networks: GSM / EDGE (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900) and UMTS / HSDPA / HSUPA (850 / 900 / 9100 / 2100). One of the main reasons why this cell phone is considered spectacular is the 7 hours of rated talk time in the 3G mode and up to 14 hours in a 2G network.

As far as the rated standby periods are concerned, the new iPhone can stay on for up to 300 hours. Other battery performances that may interest you are the ones ties to the internet use as the iPhone 4 can be used 10 hours if you are connected to a wireless hotspot and 6 hours when you have a 3G connection. When audio playback is involved, you can get about 40 hours of battery performance, but only 10 hours of video playback.



One of the coolest features of this new cell phone is the Retina display. Not only is this screen touch sensitive but it is also huge, measuring 3.5 inches in diagonal. The resolution of this cell phone has managed to reach an amazing 960 x 640 pixels. Thanks to a special coating applied both on the front and on the back of this gadget, there is no risk of retaining fingerprints. The display also offers support for multiple characters and languages simultaneously. If audio playback is one of your main concerns, you should know that this cell phone offers support for audio formats such as AAC and protected AAC, MP3, MP3 VBR, Audible, Audible Enhanced Audio, Apple Lossless, WAV and AIFF. Thanks to the VGA Adapter to Dock connector, this cell phone offers support for 1024 x 768 pixels.



Not only is the coolest cell phone ever capable of taking pictures, but with the superb integrated 5 MP camera, it can also record video with a speed of maximum 30 frames per second.
