Nokia N96 Mobile Phone with Second Life Video Game

After Nokia, Sony Ericsson, LG, Motorola and Samsung high-end cell phones supporting the Second Life video game, comes Nokia N96 mobile phone’s turn to enable access to the 3D virtual world created by Linden Lab.

The technology that permits this is the single one available at the moment and was developed by Vollee to enable streaming of PC video games to mobile handsets. Such video games include massively multiplayer online role playing games, while the VolleeX engine is in charge with adapting the games to the cell phone’s screen size and keypad layout, without scarifying speed or gameplay quality. It works based on optimized compression which minimizes bandwidth requirements on 3G networks.

Nokia N96 mobile phone is a great handset for such high-end applications because it boasts a large 2.8-inch TFT LCD display of 320 x 240 pixels and 16 million colors. The accelerometer sensor allows you to rotate the multimedia computer sideways to enable the landscape mode, in which you can watch music videos, live TV shows, movies and play the latest mobile games.
Currently, the Vollee service is supported by 70 mobile handset models featuring high-speed 3G connectivity, and the latest addition, Nokia N96 mobile phone, allows you to enter Second Life game by downloading the application from Vollee website.

The company partnered with leading video game providers such as Activision/Blizzard, Linden Lab, Codemasters, and Encore Software.
