Nokia has announced to bring Microsoft Silverlight cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in designed for delivering next-generation media experiences and rich interactive applications, on S60 software built on the leading mobile operating system for Smartphones, Symbian.



Silverlight will be available also on Series 40 devices and Internet tablets from Nokia, which will give developers the chance to build rich and interactive applications to run on multiple platforms.
Among the organizations that base their work on Microsoft Silverlight are NBA, Entertainment Tonight and NBC Universal.



The visitors of Microsoft MIX08 conference that will take place tomorrow, March 5, will have the opportunity to find out more about Silverlight and see the demonstration on S60.
S60 developers will have access to it later this year and same will happen with the availability on Nokia Series 40 and Internet tablets.

"There is clear market demand for rich, Web-based services across a variety of device types, but developing these can often be commercially difficult. For Microsoft this extends Silverlight to a broader range of vendors, platforms and devices. For Nokia it expands the web runtime options on its devices, enabling a wider community of developers and more applications.
