Newman COOL MAN

Newman COOL MAN

The good thing about the iPod craze is that other manufacturers were somehow forced to come up with interesting player designs in order to survive in this pretty dynamic market. Samsung’s S2 “Pebble” came as a true competitor for the iPhod Shuffle, while SanDisk Sansa threatened iPod’s supremacy. Newman also aims at providing some competitive products and the new COOL MAN player proves interesting designs can have a big impact on iPod enthusiasts. safety-pin-mp3.jpg COOL MAN isn’t that tiny, but one of its advantages is is that you can clip it on using a safety pin. It probably isn’t trying to match the S2’s or Shuffle’s size, but it is a sort of adaptation of the generic button pin. COOL MAN could even prove to be a good promotional device, with all those presidential elections going around.
Dubbed the “MP3 Badge″, the round player knows how to deal with WMA and MP3 files. Below the monochrome screen there are three nice buttons that remind me of a smile. Newman didn’t say anything about the storage space, but rumor has it that the player could be integrating at least 1GB of memory and should end up pretty cheap, even as cheap as a button.
