Motorola launches D10 and D11, wireless home phones

Motorola announced yesterday the latest additions to its digital cordless home phones, the D10 and D11. Optimized to use as little energy as possible and made with at least 20 percent of recycled materials, so that the carbon footprint in the home is reduced, these handsets were designed to be the perfect fit for the sophisticated and environmentally conscious home owners.

Created by the award winning design team at Motorola, these two wireless home phones offer intuitive design in a sleek sculptural form and are both easy and comfortable to use. Not to mention the fact that this new range of phones is a perfect match of design and ground-breaking functionality.

The D10 and D11’s development process is based on the attempt of taking care of the environment. Therefore, they are able to adjust the output depending on how far they are from the base unit. On the other hand, users can activate the “eco mode”, which uses less battery power and increases talk-time.

But let’s talk about the design of these two cool home phones. There’s a subtle contrast of textures and materials that creates a visually integrated look that is perfect for any contemporary home. The D10 and D11 are two slim handsets, ultra-thin, as a matter of fact, and they have large “easy-to-read” backlit displays. Both models feature polyphonic ringtones, handsfree speakerphones and 100-entry phonebooks. In addition, the D11 offers SMS messaging, 3-way conference calling and a subtle laser-etched backlit keypad. The phones are available with a digital answering machine that comes with both visual and audible message alerts as well as remote access to messages.

The D10 is equipped with a large amber-backlit “easy-to-read” display, while the D11 boasts an illuminated 4 centimeters full-color screen for added style and ease of navigation. Whenever you miss a call, a message or any other event, a unique “glow-ring” pulsates, letting you know there’s something waiting for you.

Phones in both series are available as standard or TAM (telephone answering machine) versions. The standard phones provide the core telephone features that discerning consumers will require and some additional new features that users will really appreciate, such as a room monitor that can be used to listen in on a baby, small child or a person in care. As far as the TAM phones are concerned, they offer all of these features, but, in addition, there is an advanced answer phone functionality, including pre-recorded announcements, remote access to messages and the ability to screen calls before choosing to answer.

The new D10 and D11 wireless home phones are currently available, but there’s no information on pricing yet.
