LG KU990 Viewty

LG was from the first cell phone manufacturers to design and release a 5MP camera phone and due to the model’s innovative features it became quickly one of the most wanted mobile phones on the market.
People need a full-featured mobile handset with phone functionality and as many entertainment features as possible to make to improve their lifestyle and make the work on the go easier.
We’re all tired to hear about new cell phones with built-in cameras said to be capable of capturing the sharpest pictures while on the go, and when we test them we realize that the 2MP and 3.15MP models are no better than the 1.3MP version.
LG realized this and released last year in October one of the best camera phones of the moment, the LG KU990 Viewty that also became the world’s first cell phone with DivX support, capable of producing crystal clear resolution and DVD-like quality, thanks to the Mobile XD Engine.
Another innovation brought by LG via Viewty is this large display that reacts to your finger touch by signaling direct contact with vibration, eliminating the problems that other touchscreen cell phones have.
Also, on its full touchscreen display you can use handwriting to write texts, phone numbers and even search over the Internet for the latest news.
You can edit the captured images and draw directly on the pictures using your own finger or the stylus.

The powerful lenses used in LG Viewty’s built-in camera are Schneider-Kreuznach certified and capture high-definition pictures of 5 Megapixels, with vivid colors, which can be displayed very clear even on wide LCD screens.
On the cell phone’s 3-inch TFT LCD display of 256K colors, with touch-sensitivity you can play with different camera features such as choosing between the manual and auto focus, adjust the brightness level for low light environments, edit your photos, record funny moments at 120 frames per second and upload the videos directly on YouTube so the others can laugh too.
This advanced camera phone increases its ISO sensitivity up to 800 to capture the surroundings as clear as possible in low light while the SmartLight technology allows the user adjust the brightness level in case you don’t want to use the flash.
Not many new digital cameras have image stabilizer like the LG Viewty, which eliminates the blur effect if the subject moves suddenly, and same happens with the unique 120fps Video Recording technology from LG, which is not encountered in any digital camera or camcorders.
It is a great camera phone as well as a good mobile companion that gives you full Internet browsing access via high-speed HSDPA connectivity for reaching 3.6Mbps transfer speeds when using Instant Messaging and the Google Package consisting of Google Search, e-Blogger, and Google Maps.

It works on GSM 900/1800/1900 networks and its other features include a Flash user interface, multimedia player, 500 phone book entries, 100MB shared memory, microSD card slot for up to 2GB storage, GPRS/EDGE support, Bluetooth with A2DP for wireless transfers with other compatible devices, high-speed USB 2.0 connectivity, email, HTML, secondary 30fps VGA camera for video calls, games, FM radio with RDS, Organizer, Document Viewer, voice memo, and a battery life of up to 4 hours of talk time, with 430 hours in standby mode.
The LG KU990 Viewty is a handset measuring 103.5 x 54.4 x 14.8 mm at 112 grams and comes in Black, Dark Silver, Purple and Pink colors just to cover all tastes.

James, I am transfering pictures and videos from my LG Viewty to the PC right now and you were right, it seems to last forever. But maybe it's normal because the 5MP pictures and large, as well as the videos, so...
In the following minutes I will try a firmware upgrade via LG UK here and if the speed will increase after that I leave you a message here. Though I don't think it will happen.

May I know how do I view a Excel file on the Viewty Phone? Is there any software required?

Hi Adeline. I have a similar problem with my Viewty. I bought it from a friend who got it from Tesco UK telecommunication network and unlocked it here at a service. I don't have PDF, XLS and DOC viewer so I had to do some research and find out what the problem is. Seems that the document viewer, as well as other cool applications are enabled by a special software called Picsel, which comes with several enhancements and is licensed only to phone manufacturers, not individuals.
Picsel can't be downloaded or bought and LG's customer service in my country doesn't know about it.
Try to ask a friend to send you an XLS file via Bluetooth and see if you can open it on the phone.
I managed to get only the MobilePDF viewer - a free application, but didn't test it yet.
