Today, LG Electronics announced the world’s thinnest 8MP camera phone, shortly after the 8MP touchscreen multimedia handset known as LG Renoir aka LG KC910. LG KC780 slider cell phones are optimized for portrait shots at just 13.9 mm thick, and are prepared for the release in Europe next month, with CIS and Asia following after.


“We found that most of the time people use the cameras on their mobile phones to take pictures of themselves, their families, friends and significant others,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “With this in mind, LG developed the LG-KC780 with a number of face-enhancing features to augment its high quality 8 megapixel camera.”




The high-end digital camera functionalities brought by LG KC780 slider cell phones include high-quality Schneider-Kreuznach lens, Face Detection, Smile Detection also known as Smile Shutter, several shot modes like the Beauty Mode, adjustable light sensitivity, DVD-resolution video recording, and Smart Bluetooth technology.

Let’s see what each of these was designed for.
In order to get the best pictures with people’s faces, the new LG cell phone allows you to select Face Detection and Smile Detection, the latter being developed by LG itself, enabling the camera to capture subjects only when they smile, focusing on their face expressions. The Smile Detection technology recognizes specific mouths’ angles when they smile and adjusts its settings automatically to focus on faces.
In addition, there is also a Beauty Mode in charge with removing spots and other imperfections on people’s faces, making them look brighter and natural.

I was telling you about the adjustable light sensitivity feature. Well, this technology was developed by LG and is called SmartLight. With it you can get clear images during low light conditions and even dark places, thanks to the camera’s capability to reach high ISO 1600 sensitivity. The Image Stabilizer is the ultimate tool that takes care of your pictures, making them sharp and clear in cases when your hand shakes or the subjects you focus on make sudden moves.




For video recordings, LG KC780 comes equipped with D1 Video which captures images at DVD resolutions, so that you can play them on any TV panel.
Another advanced feature of the new phone is the support for Motion Sensor Games. Action games can be controlled with the movement of the cell phone, when the game responds to shakes in addition to button pressing.

The price of LG KC780 slider cell phones was not yet unveiled.
