Kinesis Industries K3

Following the example of other major companies, Kinesis decided that the 2009 edition of the Consumer Electronics Show was the best opportunity in order to release some innovative new products. As a consequence, the K2, a charger designed to work with mobile devices, based not only on solar power, but also on wind power, was unveiled during the event.

But the company doesn’t seem to spare any moment when it comes to new products, so another charger, called K3 this time, has just been unveiled. This is a “tribrid” charger, the size of a, let’s say, flashlight, and it seems that it can be used in three different ways in order to charge a mobile phone.
First of all, the user can charge the K3 through the simplest way, meaning the AC power. In addition, the K3 can also be charged by using a USB port or a car cigarette lighter. As for the two others, the user can resort to the sun and the wind, which can be done simultaneously.
But let’s see what the K3 is able to do. Having a capacity of 4,000 mAh, it’s enough to charge a common cell phone about five times while an iPod can be juiced up more than 10 times. If the charging time is a problem for you and represents a very important criterion when it comes to buying such a product, you should know that it will take no more than an hour for approximately 30 minutes of talk time and 300 minutes of playback time.
The Kinesis Industries K3 is said to be weatherproof and weighs no more than 10.5 ounces. Unfortunately, it isn’t available at the moment, but it will be starting June, when it is said to retail for $99.95.
