They are Speakers Actually

Even it’s hard to believe, these are all Hi-Fi speakers with real plants, and the provider has experience in this industry since late 50’s, when it started the activity under the name Madison Fielding.
Since then, it won 3 Customer Electronics Show awards for design approach and functionality.

First we’ll take a look at their most amazing creations and then I’ll tell you a few words about their latest product introduced at the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association.

These cool speakers are designed by Art Powers and the collection was named PlanetSpeakers. It consists of Hi-Fi speakers that fit any decor, inside your home's large rooms or outside in the yard. They are 100% waterproof and include 3 amazing designs: Terra Cotta Series, Flagstone Planter and WoodPlanter Series.
Terra Cotta PlantSpeakers are made of polyethylene plastic in different sizes to fit any space. They hide the speaker system inside and have a lower reflector for 360 degree sound. You can opt also for the weather treated wrought iron stands.

To see some specifications let’s choose the 8.20 model. Here we have an 8-inch coaxial driver, 42HZ to 20KHZ +/- 3DB frequency response, 12DB-2 way crossover, 35W/RMS power handling, 50 to 80W/RMS recommended amplifier power, 89DB 1 WATT sensitivity, 8 Ohms impedance, all encased in a 28.25 x 20 inches system. The smallest speakers from the series measure 20 x 14 inches at 15 lbs and cost $549. The ones I described have a price of $1,199.

The Mini Flagstone and Flagstone are my favorites because of their colorful look full of life. The smaller speaker system comes in a very low profile with front firing custom tweeter and midrange on horizontal plane, while the down firing dual voice coil woofer features deep bass.

Flagstone is made of durable fiberglass and described as the world’s best outdoors residential Hi-Fi speakers. Why? Because in addition to its full waterproof capability, it features a flat frequency response, deep bass, 1-inch AUDAX dome tweeter, 4-inch midrange, 10-inch Madison Fielding subwoofer, 35Hz to 20KHz +/- 3dB, 150 W/RMS, 50 to 150W/RMS recommended power, 89dB-1WATT sensitivity, 6 Ohms impedance, 12dB-3 way type Butterworth crossover, measuring 23 x 22 x 22 inches at 65 lbs. Such a design costs $2,995.

At CEDIA this year, Madison Fielding introduces the world’s first environment-friendly outdoor speakers made in the United States, from 5 year renewable Maine White Cedar. The release includes a PlanterSpeaker that can be placed next to the gas barbeque in your yard. It is called the Stereo Sound Table and holds your trays of food as well as all your friends’ drinks, so you can continue to cook while enjoying the surround sounds.

In the new series you can find the Southwest Harbor, Westport, Southampton, Palm Beach, Charleston Corner, New Orleans, Lake Placid and Saratoga. Some of these models are customizable according to your needs with extra sets of tweeters and midrange speakers for a full 360 degree surround sound, additional crossover and dual voice coil, right stereo sound and several others.

We are pleasantly surprised by all these beautiful and powerful gadgets and if you have the chance to visit CEDIA and see these in real, don’t forget to pass by to tell us about your experience.
