G108 Watch-phone

Cellphones have become quite indispensable these days. These devices became so popular that even Apple decided to make a cool one. Still, there remain some issues with them. Take for example the fact that many people lose their phones or they don’t remember where they put them. Stealing cellphones also pays off in some situations. How exactly are we supposed to deal with this? The guys over at Cool came up with a solution –the mobile-phone-in a-watch concept.

That’s the G108, a watch-phone that comes in a clamshell design. The round dial opens up and under it we find a 1.5-inch, 256k color display with 128X60 resolution. The most striking features of all is the rounded keypad that resembles RAZER’s embedded keyboard. Check out the other features:
• GSM QuadBand (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
• Size: 51 x 51 x 20 mm (only the phone body)
• external LED display
• Weight: 65 grams
• GPRS
• 1.3 megapixel camera
• media player
• Bluetooth
• 0.5 MB built in memory
• Memory card slot
• SMS / MMS
• USB connection

Talking to your watch would make you an easy target for spy hunters and in order to avoid this situation you got the Bluetooth connection, so you can hook up a wireless headset. The onboard memory is practically non-existent, good thing they put a memory card slot. It’s still a concept, but we could see it on sale soon.

Only one word for this who comes up with these designs ?
I suppose it will look well with the local Chavs
I just bought this last week on ebay and I love it! It's obviously subjective (to those of you who have already said it's crap). Different strokes for different folks, but I find it a little... steampunk-ish.
Call quality's great reception-wise. The actual speaker needs to be set on Speakerphone (which you can do from the call screen like a V3 etc), but best results are with bluetooth. Camera's pretty good for the size (same as my old V3) and the screen is bright and colourful.
One thing about the size. The diameter's okay (no bigger than some fashion watches), but the thickness is more like those outdoors watches with rubberised casing covers. As long as you know that ahead of time, everything else will be pretty much as expected (eg. manual makes little sense, but intuitive menu compensates for that).
I am very very happy with it.
Thanks for reviewing it, Dave! :) It looks like a high-quality product anyway.
