Fun Morph 6.39 Review

Fun Morph 6.39 Review

icon23.pngDo you remember the fairytales of your childhood? If I sit back and think for awhile, I was always a dreamer, and for a kid, a fairytale is the best way to unleash his imagination. Even the movies we see as adults have various characters that morph, like werewolves or vampires, so we don't get that far from the tales we were told two a few decades ago. Now, what about using a computer program to create some nice morphing effects?

Setup

Fun Morph is the name of the computer software I am talking about here, and the last version available at this time is 6.39. Priced at 49.95$, this program comes in a setup package as large as 2.5MB and that can be tried for free a week, but you'll also face a nag screen each time you start or close the program. Since installing it is not a big deal, as you can see below, let's move on and talk about this program's interface, as usual.

Interface
funmorph_639_004.pngFun Morph is a program that costs 50$ and can help you have a lot of fun, but its interface is less than I expected. Why? Well, I have seen much better, and since this program doesn't come packed with tons of features, I think its producers should work on this much harder. The good part is that you get an interface easy to use, you're guided by a wizard once you start the program and, after all, it doesn't look bad, it's just the fact that I know it could look much better, that's all.

Features

When I see programs like Fun Morph, because this is not one of its kind, if you believed that, I always follow the easy way and play with the sample projects. Usually, things are not really hard to learn, because there's not much top do. First, you load a source picture, then a destination one, and set the morph paths. There's no need to tell you how to choose these points, just play with the settings and you'll figure out by yourselves.

Now, once you got yourselves a nice movie morphing you into Bill Gates or Rihanna, you have to choose one of the available export formats, from Flash files to image sequence. If you still need help, best thing to do is to press F1 and you'll find yourselves inside the well done help system of this program. If you are afraid you'll have to spend hours and hours reading it, then don't worry, there are only 5 lessons that take care of the import, edit source image, adding key dots, preview and export operations.

That's all, folks! Now, let's move on and draw the conclusions, shall we?

The Good

Fun Morph is a program that can help you impress your kids a lot, and it can also provide a lot of fun for adults that have enough time to spare for it.

The Bad

While I was playing with the sample projects, I started adding more dots to a source image, and the program started to display error messages(no, I didn't try to reach the dots amount limit!). For what you get, this program is simply too expensive.

Conclusion

Fun Morph is exactly what its name says - a funny application that can morph images, nothing less, nothing more. Considering the fact that I got errors in the first hour of its use and its price, I can't say anything else that I will be waiting for this program to morph into a really worthy software application, because things are not that bad, and I know it can be done. Good luck, guys!
