The security expert Roger Thompson from Exploit Prevention Labs has discovered a new type of hacking into several singers’ MySpace profiles, including Alicia Keys’, the famous R&B singer.

Other pages are from a French funk band called Greements of Fortune and a rock band from Glasgow called Dykeenies.

The malware detected by the LinkScanner software is in the form of an image-background link and when you click on it you are asked to install a codec, a fake program that will infect your PC.
But if your computer has no protection or the virus database is not updated, then the exploit installs the program in the background without you to notice.
So try not to install any extra “codec” for listen songs, watch videos or see images on MySpace.

Roger Thompson explains: "If your mouse slips a bit from what you meant to click, you get the background link," and more curious is that he has never seen such an "image-background link" before.
The background link references a website located in China, called co8vd.cn, whose domain is registered to Xiamen Hua Shang Sheng Shi Network, situated in the coastal city of Xiamen in Fujian province.

"Individuals who try to phish our members are violating the law and are not welcome on MySpace. We have blocked and removed the source of this phishing attempt and restored the profile.”
