Extreme Picture Finder 3.5 Review
Posted by: Codrut Nistor in Reviews

Sunday is that day of the week that I use to relax, and I also try to stay away from my computer as much as possible, so this is the perfect day for my computer to get a homework to accomplish while I'm away. Since my hobbies include aviation and military technology, as well as fantasy art, grabbing images from the Web that belong to these categories sounds like a good idea, especially if I have the right tool for this, and today I just found such a program, called Extreme Picture Finder.
Setup
The last version of this program is 3.5.5.1, and I really don't understand why some software producers use such long version numbers, but that's not my purpose today anyway, so let's see what we should talk about next...
The trial version available for download can be used for as long as 20 days and has a file download limit of 20,000. Anyway, I wasn't planning to fill my hard drive with images downloaded by Extreme Picture Finder, so 20,000 in 20 days is more than enough to help you realize if this application is worth its price or not.
The setup package is really small, having only 1.5MB in size, and installing it is a piece of cake, as you can see in the screenshots above. Now, let's move on and check the looks of this program, shall we?
Interface
Features
It's great to know that using Extreme Picture Finder, you can grab more than just pictures from the Internet. When using the New Project Wizard, you'll be asked to set various options, and one of the steps of this wizard requires to choose the target files. Available options are images, video and audio files, as well as "other", making Extreme Picture Finder an application useful for downloading virtually anything.
If your Internet connection is really fast, you should go to the Tools menu and select the maximum number of simultaneous connections that can be initiated by the program. The upper limit is 30, which seems pretty high, considering that most download managers or similar applications usually have a limit of 5-15 simultaneous downloads.
Organizing your projects into categories, sub-categories and folders is very easy, but the best part is that you get easy access to an online database of over 2600 projects from various categories, such as "animals", "cars", "fine arts" or "landscapes". Although many projects are 2 or 3 years old, if you find one that doesn't work, you can use the report feature so that dead links will be removed from the database.
At last, you should know that the Help system is very good, with detailed information about all the features of the program and tips for making your life with Extreme Picture Finder much easier.
The Good
Extreme Picture Finder is a very good image (and more!) grabber, with a good interface, excellent features and a fair price. If you have a strong connection, the ability to download 30 files at once will allow you to storm entire websites in a couple of minutes!
The Bad
A part of the projects from the database don't deliver good results (of course I didn't try them all...yet), and the price could be lowered juust a little, to make things even more interesting for the end user.
Conclusion
Extreme Picture Finder made this Sunday a lot better for me, and I am sure it's going to brighten your days too, at least during the trial period, if you are not going to spend the $35 required to register this program.
