Latest Sony Concepts

Yesterday at IFA 2008, the world's largest consumer electronics trade fair that took place in Germany, Sony held a press conference where we had the chance to discover 4 world’s first products and its latest ECO product concepts which we will see today.
Promoting a sustainable lifestyle involving environmental-friendly electronic devices, the company designed several innovative customer gadgets to provide a general idea of how the next-generation devices will look like and function.
The dye-sensitized solar cells use will enable photosensitive dyes that convert the light energy into electrical energy without requiring large vacuum process machines during the manufacturing process, which will involve low costs. The energy produced is sufficient and the power generated will be strong even indoors, where the lighting conditions are not strong.

An impressive concept is the bio battery that uses glucose’s enzymes to generate electricity, by simulating power generation principles found in living organisms. The first prototype was presented last year demonstrating how it can power a Walkman for music playback. Glucose can be found in very large quantities around the globe and has a high concentration. Sony believes it will become a base energy source in the near future.

odo is a concept design products family consisting of 5 devices that could use kinetic energy, and here we have a digital picture camera, a picture/video viewer, stereo headphones and a solar battery.
The energy powering such devices would be generated by the user’s movements and would be destined to teach children about the ecological responsibilities. Users have to move and rotate the devices in order to produce electricity, while these are made of a special plastic material based on plants. More exactly, this type of plastics polylactic acid, which was approved for using in food containers.
