Nokia E71 is a new multimedia handset announced in June and released this month in US, preparing to be available in Europe in a few days.
The smartphone features a full QWERTY keyboard and 5-key scrolling for fast navigation, coming in White Steel and Grey Steel, with support for Microsoft Exchange, an advanced corporate email solution destined to business professionals offering the employees access to their e-mail, voice mail, calendars, and contacts from a variety of clients and devices. It reduces costs for maintaining separate systems, by providing a single inbox for voice mail, fax, and e-mail, as well ass built-in security.

The starting price is of £330, and it includes support for email accounts from more than a thousand internet service providers, switching between personal and work home screens, enhanced calendar, customizable home screen modes, Ovi support with maps, music and media sharing, high-speed 3.6Mbps transfer speeds via HSDPA, wireless LAN, 3G, and A-GPS for picture tagging.

"With mobile email penetration and access to wireless applications growing at a rapid rate, Nokia is well positioned with its extensive lineup of market leading handsets to address the needs of consumers, high-end users and mobile professionals alike," said Andrew Brown, Director, Wireless Enterprise Strategies Global Wireless Practice, Strategy Analytics.

Sporting a stainless steel case with metallic finish, Nokia E71 is a durable yet stylish handset with an interesting design, not characteristic to Nokia smartphones, and measures 114 x 57 x 10 mm at 127 grams. It supports GSM 850/900/1800/1900 bands, showing a 2.36-inch TFT display of 16 million colors, and featuring MP3 player, True Tones, unlimited phone book entries, microSD card slot for up to 8GB storage, hot swap, 110MB internal memory, 128MB SDRAM, an ARM 11 369 MHz processor, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, infrared port, microUSB 2.0, Symbian OS 9.2 with the Series 60 v3.1 UI, Instant Messaging, HTML, Java, a built-in 3.15MP camera with autofocus, 15 fps video recording capability, flash, secondary videocall camera, GPS, office applications, FM radio, voice commands, and printing.

It is powered by a Li-Po 1500 mAh battery that needs recharging after 10 hours and 30 minutes of talk time, and 410 hours of standby.
