Droid Cell Phone

Also known as Sholes, the Motorola Droid was finally launched in the summer of 2009. Even if this Droid cell phone is not very popular and there are many people who never heard anything about it, it promises to be a strong rival for the famous iPhone. Why Motorola Droid? Well, it is called Droid because it runs an excellent Android 2.0 operating system which is faster than many other smartphones on the market. With a price of only $199 the Motorola Droid is bound to have a great success.

If you are interested about how it looks, we can say that it is a full touch screen handset with an impressive QWERTY keyboard. The case is made of resistant plastic painted in a nice combination between black and glossy black. It has 115.8 x 60 x 13.7mm in dimensions and 165 grams in weight. You need to remember that this Droid cell phone is a smartphone equipped only with high quality components and high-end features. On the front side you will see a huge touch screen display and four touch sensitive buttons (Home, Back, Search and Menu). On the sides you will find two volume keys, a camera shutter, a 3.5 mm jack, a microUSB port (which can be used to connect to a PC or charge the phone) and the Power On/off button.

The biggest surprise of this smartphone is the gorgeous WVGA display. At 3.7 inches and a native resolution of 480 x 854 pixels, it surpasses even the iPhone. And that is not all. Supporting 16 million colors and having a lot of features like Multi-Touch input method, accelerometer sensor and Proximity sensor for auto turn-off, this touch screen is one of the richest ever seen. Offering clear images with sharp graphics and vibrant colors has proven to be brilliant. For taking photos, this Droid cell phone comes with an integrated 5 Megapixels camera capable of taking photos at a maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels and record clips at a maximum resolution of 720 x 480 pixels with a speed of 24fps. Even if it has autofocus, dual-LED flash and geo-tagging, the photos are not spectacular. The image quality is decent with bright colors and good contrast. When you open the Motorola Droid an impressive full QWERTY keyboard will be revealed. The keys are flat and have good size. If you are a fast writer you can be a bit disappointed by it because there is not much space between keys. But after several days of practice, you will see that it is excellent for writing emails or messages offering a great positive feedback.
