DreamLight Photo Editor 2.01 Review

DreamLight Photo Editor 2.01 Review

Since Adobe Photoshop or similar programs are not for beginners, and Paint doesn't have any photo processing tools, a large gap needs to be filled between these two graphic software categories, and sometimes all you need to do is click a button to get an enhanced image. Today's program, called DreamLight Photo Editor, does exactly that - adds various effects to your images with one or two mouse clicks!

Setup

DreamLight Photo Editor's last version is 2.01, and its setup package is as large as 6.6MB. I had no problems downloading and installing it, so you shouldn't encounter any either. The trial version I downloaded and installed seems to be limited when it comes to saving your pictures, although this is not clearly stated, but I noticed that I saved only a thumbnail, and not the original image size. Anyway, we'll talk about the limitations a bit later...

Interface

dreamlightpe_201_004.pngThis program's interface is not a masterpiece. To be honest, I don't like it, first of all because of the color combination used, and second, because it looks completely outdated. Anyway, the good part is that using it is a piece of cake, since all the functions are available from the main window. No need to look for a tool inside countless menus and submenus, no need to remember anything - just open the program, and use it! As you can see in the picture to the left, using this program can't get easier than the way it is now.

Features

Unfortunately, although called DreamLight Photo Editor, this program doesn't have any image editing features. All you can do with it is open a photo (only BMP and JPG image formats are supported), then choose an effect by pressing one of the 15 buttons available. Once you are happy with the result shown in the preview area, you should be able to save you image, but only into one of the two formats mentioned earlier.

This is it... I guess that graphics artists will laugh and move on, but I know a lot of people that love such programs. Even better, the trial version can provide enough fun for a while, without having to pay a single penny, but it may become boring pretty soon.

The Good

DreamLight Photo Editor is a program that's fun to use, and even someone that sees a computer for the first time could use it without problems. Some of the image that may result from your work with this program could impress all your friends easily.

The Bad

The bad interface and very limited image format support are the main drawbacks of this program, as well as the lack of any image editing features and, at last, the price. For what you get with this piece of code, its price is simply too high.

Conclusion

If you have enough time to spare and you're not a Photoshop user already, you could give this program a try. You may even consider purchasing a license, that's your choice, but as far as we can tell, this is one of those programs worth trying, only if you have the time...
