Dog Bark to Speech Translator
Posted by: Sierra Monica B. in News

It seems that in the near future we’ll be able to use special software that will help us understand better our dogs.
The specialists are working on this project right this moment are those from ELTE University in Budapest, Hungary, lead by ethologist Csaba Molnar.

Its complex software is still in developing phase and after the preliminary tests it proved it can analyze dog bars in order to translate them to humans, based on the dogs’ emotional reactions in six situations: the dog being alone, when it sees the ball coming, when it fights or plays, the moment of encountering with a stranger, and when it is just walking.
The computer software managed to distinguish the emotional reactions in 43% of the cases, while humans accomplished that in 40% of the cases.
The researchers team is working to improve the software and algorithms but I personally couldn’t base my decisions concerning dogs, on a software created by people who are seeing the dogs’ communicating system that simple.
