Cool Shooting Games
Posted by: Techpin in Games

Shooting games have got to be some of the most popular games on the planet. People invest thousands of dollars in gaming computers or laptops just to be able to enjoy high quality shooter games that aren't just fun, they also test some of your skills, like shooting accuracy. If you want to try some of these games, we have gathered cool shooting games. Please note that in order to play some of the games below, you are going to need a cool computer, like an Alienware machine because cool games have high requirements.
I am not a shooter fan, I'm more of an RPG person but Clive Barker's "Jericho" was pretty amazing even for me. It is a huge leap from Barker's "Undying". You play the captain of a special force squad which is sent on a mission apparently in the middle of nowhere. You are somewhere in the desert where you found a lost city that rinks with evil all around. You must destroy all evil which will eventually spread in the entire world unless you stop it. It has superb special effect but we recommend you don't play it if you have any heart problems. It's more than a shooter, it's like a horror movie and you are going to see some pretty ugly (horrifying I might say) monsters that are waiting for you around the corner. To get the maximum thrills out of this game, try playing it at night, with all the lights turned off inside the house, preferably when you're alone and turn up the volume of those speakers. We guarantee you will feel the "chills". This game will only run on Windows Vista or Windows XP operating systems. You need a minimum 1 GB of RAM and a sound card which is DirectX 9 compatible. As for the graphic cards, you will need an ATI Radeon X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950, HD2900 or an nVidia GeForce 6600, 6800, 7100, 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950 and 8800.

What happens if you combine "Night of the Living Dead" with "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"? You'd probably get Left 4 Dead 2. This is an action shooter combined with zombie stories and spiced up with some chainsaws and axes. Oh, the horror! The game play is excellent. You can even see changes in the weather effects. If you liked the first Left 4 Dead you will love the sequel which has some very interesting upgrades and improvements. Sound cool? Well, if you want to play this game, you have to free about 7 or 8 GB of disk space and make sure you have Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 installed. The processor has to be (at least!!!) an Intel Pentium4 at 3.0 GHz. You need a DirectX 9 compatible video card and sound card, an nVidia 6600 or better. There are the minimum requirements. It would be ideal for you to have an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and an nVidia 7600 graphics card. Gather the necessary requirements and you are in for some serious zombie shooting.

Another candidate on our cool shooting games list is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The game makes much more sense if you played the first Call of Duty because the campaigns are somehow related. If you have a good PC backing you up then there is nothing that can stop you from becoming a real killing machine. The campaign is quite short so don't start complaining and say you haven't been warned. Still, this won't prevent you from having some real fun with this military shooter. You have an option to skip some levels entirely but the campaign is already short and in the end the satisfaction is much bigger if you finish all the levels completely. There are different classes you can design in order to highlight different skills. To play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 you need to have at least an Intel Pentium 4 processor at 3.2 GHz or even a AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor. You also need 1 GB of RAM and Microsoft DirectX 9 installed. As for the graphics card, you should have a 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT or ATI Radeon 1600XT (or even better). You must have at least 12 GB of free disk space (quite a big game, isn't it?).

If you are more into realistic shooters rather than monster-zombies, you might just like Battlefield 2. This is also a sequel of the first game but with nice improvements. The graphics are much better and this makes game play much more pleasant. One thing we have to mention is that this game is a team-work game so when you join the online server, you will automatically be assigned to one of the two teams (US Marine Corps and the Chinese People's Liberation Army) but you can always switch sides. No matter who you fight for you will still benefit from different equipment and technology. Â When you enter the game, the first thing you have to do is choose a kit which consists of different weapons and abilities and the more different they are, the better your team will handle the missions.

As for the system requirements, you need at least Windows XP operating system and a 1.7 GHz Intel Celeron D / Pentium 4 processor (AMD Athlon XP/ Sempron will do as well) or even better. You need at least 512 MB of RAM which is quite a surprise since we imagined we would need at least 1 GB of RAM. You should have about 3 GB of free disk space. The sound card and the video card need to be DirectX 9 compatible. As for the graphics card, you should have nVidia GeFore FX 5700 or ATI Radeon 8500 or greater (with at least 128 MB of video memory).

If these games look too complicated or if you just don't have a computer which is good enough to run these games, there are always some shooting games you can play online. They are not as spectacular as Left 4 Dead or Jericho but it's still a good way to help you pass the time.
