Contemporary Table Lamps

OSRAM has invented the first OLED lamp designed by Ingo Maurer and show it for the first time at LightFair 2008 in Las Vegas.
This lamp’s introduction marks a new point in the lighting industry history and we are expecting that our old desk lamps to be soon replaced by OLED-based models as part of contemporary tablet lamps.

They have chosen OLEDs because these thin films of organic molecules consume significantly less power than light-emitting diodes.
Early Future limited edition of OLED table lamps used tiles measuring 132 x 33 mm and it provides low operating voltage, a mercury-free design, with a uniform light-generating surface.
According to OSRAM, in the near future OLEDs will be used as flexible or transparent light sources over windows in roofs, and in the night it would create superb illumination all over the room. Other possible applications include rear lighting elements integrated in rear windshields.

"We are excited to bring this new design application to the US," said Tom Shottes, President and CEO, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors. "The creation of this lamp helps to demonstrate the possible applications and design projects involving OLEDs."
