CLEF Electronic Music Note Stand
Posted by: Sierra Monica B. in NextGen PC Design Competition

CLEF is not a standard portable PC equipped with next generation technologies, but more an electronic music stand ingeniously designed in a prism shape, to fit musicians’ needs.

It really helps when they are playing an instrument in the orchestra by providing a touch-sensitive interface and a wireless foot pedal with rubber and pressure sensor, detachable from the main unit, so they can change the page with the score by simply touching the display or pressing the pedal.

I said it has an ingenious design because it is actually three devices all in one: an electronic music stand, a portable PC and a digital music player.
CLEF gives musicians access to the Internet, a music player and all the other functions of a laptop when it is turned on a side.
You can roll out its flexible LCD display, pull out the ergonomic keyboard and start working on your documents or organizing your scores.

Then, when you need to use its main function, you can just pull the base part out of it by pressing on the bottom, and you have the electronic music stand ready.

Its designers imagine it having a height of 8 cm, with a width of 27.9 cm and 8.8 cm in diameter, its form is customizable according to the user’s needs, while the hardware parts consist of thermal cooling holes on the back and side parts, and a memory chip for the storage replacing the hard drive disk.

Every musician could use it, from violinists to street musicians, regardless of the genre they play, the place or technology knowledge, as CLEF is created to be simple to use, portable, and easy to carry.
