ChaCha Search Engine with Guides - A Successful Startup
Posted by: Sierra Monica B. in News

I read an article on TechCrunch about a new search engine that has an additional free service: if you can’t find what you are looking for in the search query, then you can talk to a guide that will find it for you in just a few minutes and less stress.
This new search engine is called ChaCha.
In the article I’ve read, the editor was describing ChaCha as “a well funded bad startup†because the search guides don’t have enough knowledge about the www, but in the same time there have been registered 24 million page views/month in January.
So I thought that would be better to test it myself and then write my own opinion about this.

As you can see from the screenshots, I asked the guide in the chat window to find me a list with all known social bookmarking websites.
Of course, I was inspired by the article I read before, where is shown a screenshot with the query “I am looking for a UK equivalent of Digg†and the answer “What is Diggâ€.

It’s hilarious but when I tried to find my list of social bookmarking sites the guide found exactly what I asked for, and I really don’t have anything bad to say about all this.
The required registering on the website plus using their search engine plus the discussion with the guide until he found the result, took about 5 minutes.
Remember that you don’t have to register if you are using their search engine, but only if you need a guide.
