Cool Tests

One really cool way of spending a rainy Sunday afternoon at home is doing some fun computer activities. One thing I like to do when I have access to the internet (and no work to do) is to check out some cool tests which are available online. Tests can be different: from IQ tests, love tests, personality tests and even compatibility tests.

For example, one cool test that establishes what your IQ level is, can be found on www.iqtest.com. The website will display a list of 38 questions which can be answered with TRUE or FALSE and it is recommended that you try to answer them without using a pen and paper for any kind of calculus. Another website for IQ tests is www.intelligencetest.com, a much more complex site that the one mentioned before. This website has different other tabs, like memory games, facts and trivia, polls, articles, quotes, puzzles, links and even a newsletter. You can even take short tests (about 10 minutes) and you receive your results on the spot. One of my favorite IQ tests can be found on www.mensa-test.com. Try it out and see why I find it to be cool.

Another type of cool tests are the ones that reveal certain aspects of your personality and they are called… personality tests. You can find them on different websites like www.similarminds.com or www.humanmetrics.com. Personality tests were generally developed by well knows physiologists but you will also find funny test developed by people that have nothing to do with this field. On www.humanmetrics.com you will find the Jung personality test which is a set of 72 affirmations like “You believe the best decision is one that can be easily changed”  or “You tend to rely on your experience rather than on theoretical alternatives” which have to be answered with YES or NO depending if they fit to your own living habits.

www.lovequiztest.com says it all just by reading the name of the website. This site has some funny tabs with different cool and funny tests like the 7 deadly sins tests, the emo test, free career test, heart color test, celebrity test, eye test and other information like you personal horoscope, love stories, love quotes and daily health tips. The results of these tests are not to be taken too seriously as they are just for fun. I took the 7 deadly sins test and I can assure you “wrath” is not my biggest problem.

www.cooltest.com is out last website for the day. What I really like about this one is that it gathers all sorts of tests. You can even try an online typing test to see the speed and accuracy of your computer typing. Other tests are memory tests, aptitude tests, stress tests, GED tests, depression tests and even career aptitude tests. Boy, these tests sure are a lot of fun. I find it funny to read certain things about myself even if these tests are not always professional and accurate. They are still a good way to spend the afternoon when I’m trapped inside my house.

Cool Movie Websites

Movies are a definite hobby for most people. A lot of us find a piece of our personality when looking at the amazing stories on the big screen. We find ourselves in the roles played by actors, people that we admire and sometimes dream of becoming like.

When it comes to cool movie websites, the first one on my list is www.imdb.com. This is the biggest internet movie database and you can find reviews, trailers and a lot of information about any film that you have even seen or heard about. It gives out information about the genre of the movie, a synopsis, a review, the whole cast, directors, date of release and even a photo gallery from the red carpet and the shooting scenes. It also shows the top 10 movies which are currently at the box office. If you are interested in horror movies for example, you can browse movies by category. It shows charts with the best horror movies and also the worst horror movies ever made (according to user ratings). Not only can you get information about movies, but you can also get valuable facts about your favorite actors. Just type in the name of your favorite actor or actress and you will get a mini biography (with details like the date of birth and even the number of nominations and awards he or she got during their acting career) and a list of all the movies the actor or actress starred in so you know exactly which movies to watch in order to see your hero.

Cool movie websites are no longer just those sites about interesting and important movie facts. Modern cool movie websites will also allow you to watch movies online with no need of paying or downloading the movie to your computer. An example of such a website is www.theonlydevice.com. Some of these websites where online video streaming is permitted require that you sign up with a free account, other will require a monthly payment (the amount of money is almost insignificant) but movies are not that hard to get in our days.

Other people may consider that cool movie websites are in fact torrent websites. These torrent websites are a different way of sharing files between different computers with the difference that these files have to be uploaded to the website before anyone else can download them. The most common torrent websites which people use to download movies and even music, games and other applications are www.thepiratebay.org, www.torrentz.com, www.bittorrent.com, www.torrentreactor.net, www.mininova.org and www.isohunt.com (of course, the list could go on). You can only download files from some websites if you have a user account and sometimes you can only sign up if someone who is already a member sends you an e-mail invite. Think of it as a recommendation to join a circle of well selected clientele. In order to download movies from these websites, you must have a special application installed on your computer (like BitComet or uTorrent) which will help you control and monitor the whole downloading process.

I Can Haz My Very Own Google

i-can-haz-my-very-own-google-s
There is no easy way i can explain this concept. It’s like someone at Green Pixel got up one morning and said “We are going to reinvent Google!” And that is exactly what they are doing. The difference is that http://icanhaz.me will only generate one search result and that could be your very own website.

If you go to the icanhaz website, you can choose your very own keyword for 30 days and a link to another website of your choice. Let’s say you choose the word “clothes”. This will generate a link http://icanhaz.me/clothes which can lead to your very own blog about clothes or any other link that you choose. Instead of loading the Google website to do a search, just type into the address bar of your web browser: icanhaz.me/clothes. Now you will be redirected to the website that you have chosen.

icanhazcat

Basically, you allocate a keyword to a certain website and when someone types in that keyword after writing icanhaz.me/ in the address bar of the browser, they will be automatically redirected to the chosen website. We wanted to search some combinations but since this thingy has been launched about 3 days ago, most combinations haven’t been takes yet. And here comes the whole fun with http://icanhaz.me. Let’s say you wanted to pull a prank one someone, like that old high school bully that made your life miserable. Just get your own http://icanhaz.me/idiot page and put that guy’s Facebook page in the redirection link. Everyone that searches “idiot” in their icanhaz page will come across your “friend’s” Facebook profile. Easy as cupcake.

word

Since the website is still a baby, you can now get the chance to get almost any keyword you want and if you desperately want one that has already been taken (like “pictures”) you can add a number after the word (like “pictures2”). In the next couple of days, I get the feeling I am going to see some pretty interesting website links which are going to redirect us to even more interesting websites.

In the mean time, some already registered keywords and websites are http://icanhaz.me/precious which will lead you to “The Diamond Store”. Ladies, be prepared to feast on your on the shiny accessories that are going to give you something to look at for a while (they are not as expensive as we imagined).

random

http://icanhaz.me/coffee-addict will redirect you to “The Joke Yard”, more specifically, to a list of signs that you are drinking too much coffee. My favorite was “You grind your coffee beans in your mouth.” (Who does that? Is it even possible?). In the end, icanhaz is all about fun and attracting traffic to your blog or website. It’s a nice application that will keep us entertained even if we don’t have a website for which we need a keyword. Just try some funny combinations and see what websites they will lead you to. I have an even better idea. Come back every day or from 2 to 2 days and see what new websites and keywords have been chosen lately.

Cool Design To Put On A Model Plane

cool-design-to-put-on-a-model-plane-s
In the future you will be able to design your plane. Because of the many flights of airports passengers feel that the traffic is unbearable. A ground transportation system was also design for planes as well as for cars. Now than ever before, many people are travelling  by plane and that is the reason why we have to improve the air transportation system. The first thing you have to know when trying to design a plane, is how plane fly. There are 4 forces of flight that make it happen. There are also different kinds of engines to choose from. How much fuel it uses or how well it flies, it depends on the shape of your aircraft. We have to learn about the materials, aerodynamics and structure. You can determine how much lift you need to make the aircraft go down, up or hover, by the sizes and number of the rotors of your aircraft .

A well designed aircraft must not increase ground traffic, must have the perfect size, must be able to fly far away, be cheap, carry people and of course to be able to fly. Before the aircraft is built, the designs can be tested .

Here are some aircraft paper designs:

-         dragon plane that has wings completely level
-         the Edmonton shadow  took me three hours to built it
-         the Swallow
-         Trapezium Paper airplane has a heavy nose that has an unusual but effective design. If it will hit a wall it won’t get damaged.
-         Chris’ Paper Plane
-         Nose Heavy Plane
-         Napkin Paper Airplane is an unusual plane but with a simple design
-         Cobra Paper airplane will fly fast and straight and also glide. I’m sure that you will have all the skills required to fold it.
-         Origami Paper airplane/Dart it can be confused with a dart because it flies far.
-         The Lighting
-         Sabertooth paper airplane

Model aircrafts are non-flying or flying models of imaginary and existing aircraft. In full size or down version of planes using materials such as: balsa wood, polystyrene, fibreglass and foam. Designs range from accurate scale models to simple glider aircraft, some of them can be very large. Models can be built either as flying models or non-flying models. These models differ very much .

The aircrafts that are not intended to fly are called static aircrafts. They are built using wood, plastic, paper or metal. Models that are already painted and built can be bought. Increasingly popular have become the snap models that need a minimal construction. These planes are a form of publicity. Injection molded polystyrene is the most common form of manufacture for kits using carbon steel molds. Today this takes place in Taiwan, China, South Korea, Philippines and Eastern Europe. A high degree of precision is allowed by the injection molding. It also can be done by using cast copper molds and cast resin molds .

There are 3groups for flying models:

-free flight has no attachments to the ground
-control line that uses cables leading from the pilot to the wing.
- Radio-controlled aircraft is sending signals to a receiver in the craft.

Here is a cool design to put on a model plane that was designed by Ted Evans with an unusual look and had a great success  from 1947-1950. The static models are totally different to built than flying models. Flying models rarely use metal structure .For the fuselage is used the construction techniques of using longerons and formers and for the wings, ribs and spars .

I will show you know to put a cool design on a model plane. Let’s say we already have a basic design . The nose moment is 11’’, the fuselage length is 45’’ and the tail moment is 18’’.The vertical stabilizer is 7’’ and the horizontal stabilizer is 21’’ X 7’’.We still need to consider the area of the ailerons, elevators and rudder .

cool-design-to-put-on-a-model-plane-4

We will add some ailerons on the design of the wing. There are 2 types of ailerons: strip ailerons and barn door. Both having disadvantages and advantages Strip ailerons are easy to hook up and install while the barn door looks cool. Strip ailerons require short control rods whereas barn door needs more setups. In the end the choice is in the hands of the designer but I recommend strip ailerons because are more simple .

Aircrafts have a great importance nowadays, they are indispensable. You can travel all over the world, present ads, help people in need in due time. Although not all of us had the chance to fly and are still afraid of the unknown, aircrafts are considered to be safer than any other means of transportation. It is resistant through bad weather, strong and quite easy to fabricate. It is also not so expensive to travel by plane and it is quicker .

cool-design-to-put-on-a-model-plane-5

Comfort and safety are 2 important issues of our society. It is very difficult to have control over when the airplane is in the air, bad things can occur and are out of your hands. When you take a trip you should think first of  safety and comfort and decide what is best for you. Every means of transportation has disadvantages and advantages.  Being up there through the clouds will give you a great feeling,  a feeling of freedom, of getting close to what is true to us –the  miracles of nature .

Cool websites for teenagers must be very interesting because teens get bored quickly. This kind of websites must supply many interactive features in a simple way, but not in a childish way. Teens have a wired lifestyle and researches show that they are using internet for: hobbies, school assignments, news, entertainment , e-commerce and they also learn about health issues that they are embarrassed top talk about.

Although many think that teens are techno wizards the studies contradict that. In fact adults know more how to use complex sites. The poor performance of teens is influenced by: less sophisticated research strategies, insufficient reading skills and lower patience level. Teens pay more attention to the visual aspect of the sites that adults do. Teens want to be stimulated because they have a short attention span. You can never keep teens on your site if it is boring or are difficult to figure out. One funny aspect is that teens don’t like small fonts. And what makes this funny is the fact that the ones that made the study thought that only old users don’t like small fonts because of the bad eyesight and they also thought that websites are made with small fonts because the ones that created them were young people with good eyesight.

Teens are attracted by forms for providing feed-back, online quizzes, games, online voting, message boards, sharing pictures, forums for advices. Teens express themselves in many ways. Teens are very different from children and adults.

The studies show that teens stay in front of the computer from 5 to 10 hour per week. 83% of teenagers are online. Teens prefer web sites that adults like. Such as: Wikipedia, Yahoo, Google. This is what teens like to do on their computers: play computer games, board games, vehicle racing, action figures, play sets, draw and win prizes or see television episodes that they missed. Today teens are demanding and well informed. Only new and interesting websites can interact this new generation of teens.  If you belong to the older generation , it is easy to misunderstand them.
