Robotic nurse to take care of our elders

My grandfather is an 83 years old “young man”, as he likes to say. Even if it makes everybody laugh (me included), I can’t argue with him when saying such a nonsense, due to its very good shape, which makes him a whole lot heftier than younger people.

He has always been afraid of the fact that one day he won’t be able to do those things he loves most in this world, not to mention the common activities that a human being is able to do, like walking, talking, feeding himself and so on. What he fears most is that someday he’ll be a burden for us, his family. I can completely understand him, but this doesn’t mean he has reasons to be afraid. As far as I’m concerned, at least.

Anyway, the point is that many elderly people find themselves in the same situation when reaching a certain age, while us, the younger generations, are tempted to neglect them and to forget how much they meant to us and they still do.

Japanese, for example, are thinking about fixing this problem. An independent administrative institution called NEDO, began a five-year research and development project, back in 2006, the “Project for Strategic Development of Advanced Robotics Elemental Technologies”. And what did Nedo do? Well, it selected six different robots that were and will be developed in the following years (two, to be more precise).

Now, one of those robots was developed by Murata Machinery, being in fact a robotic nurse that is able to do whatever a real nurse can. And one of the most important things is that this robot can deliver medication to the patients it takes care of.

This is a great idea, you have to admit, even if a soulless creature won’t ever replace the warmth you could give to your elders.

How to win a Wii with one click – Results

Unfortunately, we found about this contest a little bit late, so we couldn’t win one of the prizes, even if it seems that we all did our best in order to “destroying” our competitors. It’s a quite difficult task to break the news to you, but what we did here wasn’t enough. This has nothing to do with the fact that we weren’t as enthusiastic as others, but with the fact that we didn’t have equal chances. This means we had less time at our disposal to promote our participation, compared to the websites that knew about the context since January.

But that’s ok. Techpin is happy to have participated the Ready 2 Rumble Revolution and wants to congratulate the winners, letting them know that next time we’ll be more powerful. We enjoyed very much the experience and we’re looking for the next one.

The best about this contest is that the story will not end here. Because, you know how they say, all good things must come to an end. But they are always followed by better ones. We’ve been told that the first contest was a tremendous success, so there will be another round/edition/however you might want to call it.

But up until that moment, continue reading our articles and we’ll be back with further information.

Thank you all!

How to win a Wii with one click

People are predisposed to become maniacs about all sorts of unusual things, and Wii is undoubtedly one of those things, because the console talks about all of us. And because “wii” are involved in the fairytale more than we are in any other story.

If you are familiar with the so very famous home video game console, manufactured by Nintendo, then you must know that the market of especially-designed-for-Wii games is already overwhelmed due to its impressive dynamism. In the given context, a brand new game, called “Ready 2 Rumble Revolution”, published by Atari and developed by Aki Corporation, is expected to become available starting March 17, 2009.

The game is part of the sports genre (boxing, to be more precise) and makes fighting a whole lot funnier than ever before. Actually, it converts a punch into the most amusing thing that one can ever experience. Quite risky, if you ask me, ‘cause it sounds like promoting violence. Anyway, maybe it’s for a good cause, after all, if Wii think about it. Virtual violence can satisfy one’s desire to release his/her fits of bad temper, don’t you think?

“Tailored to take advantage of the motion-controlled realism of Wii, Ready 2 Rumble Revolution makes landing a punch more fun than ever. Virtual heavyweights can fight from the backstreet gym all the way to the big Las Vegas showdown with vivid new visuals bringing the five spectacular ring environments to life. The arcade experience is made even better thanks to advanced Artificial Intelligence allowing more strategic fights”.

Now let me tell you something. This post was a condition for Techpin to enter into a contest organized by Rocket XL. We’ve been contacted by Jenny Park-Chen, the Campaign Manager of Rocket XL, and we were told about a contest that is the simplest of them all, but which awards the top 5 influencers (meaning websites) with impressive prizes.

The website that will generate the most clicks on the Ready 2 Rumble badge will be the winner. So, the grand prize consists of a Wii console, Plasma TV, Ready 2 Rumble Revolution and a sound system, while the runner ups (from 2 to 5) will get a Wii console and Ready 2 Rumble Revolution.

In the fortunate case that Techpin will be one of the winners, then one of you will get the prize, whatever the prize may be. Therefore, all you have to do is to click the badge below (the huge red boxing glove) and leave a comment to this post. And maybe you’ll be the lucky one!

Thanks, Jenny!

During the Japan Developer Conference, Tzero Technologies will reveal the world’s first commercially available Wireless HDMI solution, preparing us to receive the wireless High Definition video content in our homes in 2009.

Tzero’s Zero Wire 2.0 allows for a low price of $50 per enabled unit and supports full 1080p60 high-definition video streaming for both TV and wireless gaming.

“Wireless HDMI over UWB will be a critical technology for the Japanese consumer electronics industry in 2009 and beyond as they launch new products with support for the latest high definition capabilities,” said Rajeev Krishnamoorthy, CEO of TZero Technologies. “TZero is capitalizing on the unique properties of Ultra Wideband technology including its high bandwidth, extreme signal reliability, low power consumption, and immunity to interference from other wireless devices. We’re excited about the interest level from Japanese CE manufacturers, and we look forward to commercializing an array of products with them in the coming quarters.”

CandyJunkie’s Last Live Webcam Session Among Latest Suicide Video Clips

According to True Crime Report, CandyJunkie, a young guy living in Miami and known in the real life as Abraham Biggs, has committed suicide on Wednesday night, Miami hours, while broadcasting live from his room.
He was talking to people while preparing the suicide and told all about him going to take the drugs, but, unfortunately people didn’t take him seriously.

In the MySpace profile we see a happy young person with lots of friends, and who likes cars and to party.
He describes himself:

"I'm a good hearted guy, I care a lot about my friends and my family and I would do almost anything for them. I'm the kind of person that is there for my friends regardless of time, I tell all my friends even if it's 3-4AM and they need someone to talk that they can always call and I'll never turn them away. I am very goal oriented, I know what I want to do with my life and I'm working towards it. I'm a nice guy but I'm not a carpet, I don't let people walk on me, so as long as you stay on my good side there won't be any problems. Ok that's all I have to say if you wanna find out more just message me."

In the recorded video that remained on the Internet, you can see him in his bed after he took several drug pills. He laid like that for hours, according to people who watched him live, and he probably dies in sleep. At the end of the video you can see the police entering the room and finding him dead.

These were the final words posted on the BodyBuilding Forum, which we got from Lipstick Alley:

“Ask a guy who is gonna OD (again) tonight anything
To Whom It May Concern,
I am going to leave this for whoever stumbles across my bookmarks later on.
I hate myself and I hate living. I think that if someone who knows me
reads this they will know who I am. So I will leave this unsigned. I am
an a@#hole. I have let everyone down and I feel as though I will never
change or never improve. I am in love with a girl and I know that I am
not good enough for her. I have come
to believe that my life has all been meaningless. I keep trying and I
keep failing. I have thought about and attempted suicide many times in
the past. I used to think of my failure as some mystical way of telling
me that I was really meant for something meaningful. The only thing I
dread, besides the pain, is the way my family will suffer. I do not want
my mother or father to think that it was anything they did that lead me
to kill myself. I never really had any plans of leaving a note. I
thought that I would not be able to describe why I want to do this and I
am right. There is no way to tell you or anyone else why I dread every
new day. My father had such high expectations for me and tried to give
me every opportunity to improve upon myself. I let him down. I think
that I am a major disappointment to him. I have a job but I’m always broke
and I am in college but barely, I show up to class but that’s about it.
I want my life to end. I am tired of f@#$ing up everything. I
am tired of people always telling me that they do not like me. I am
tired of trying to be decent. I hope that someone finds this post and I
hope that my parents know that I f@#$ed up not them. It is my fault I
screwed up my own life.
The hate that rages within me, rages not for those I love so dearly or
those who have crossed my path.
This hate rages full force towards me and only me.
I have long forgiven those who've hurt me, but I have not and cannot
come to terms to forgive myself for the things I have done to myself, and
the things I've done to hurt those in my life.
You have all touched my life in one way or another,
especially those whom I call family.
I cannot tell you how sorry I am for ending my life the way I did. I
hope that you can all find it in your heart to see it as way for me not
suffering anymore and that I am finally at rest with myself, for being at
rest with the guilt that constantly ate at me for so long.
Please forgive me all for taking my own life so early. I tried so hard
to fight against this strong battle. I have reached out for help so many
times, and yet I believe, I was turned away because of the things I did,
that it is a punishment I am willing to take, for I know that being who I am
has only brought myself and others pain.
I love you all and will forever live within the memories we created.
Forgive me.
Love always and forever,
As for my signature I will leave you with a quote so that if anyone
reads this they will know it's me, Can’t feel pain if your dead? Just Saying"

So, what’s the conclusion you have to take? –That if it’ll ever happen to have this type of feelings you’ll really need to seek for professional help, at least as a last try.
