When moving up to ISO 400, the noise is starting to increase even more and more details are lost. Even so, it still makes a good choice for people that need a basic digital camera. With a starting price of almost $800, it is safe to wonder if the Canon G10 digital camera is worth the financial efforts. The Canon G10 PowerShot is very similar to its younger brother – the G9. The dimensions of this camera are 4.3 x 1.8 x 3.1 inches while the total weight is 14 ounces. The metal body of this camera may feel like tank, but I think that features and not looks are the most important aspect in the end.

The biggest change could be considered the dial configuration as the mode dial has been stacked inside the ISO dial and it is a right hand operation. When you wish to take 2 shots in a row, you have a 2.2 seconds gap between them. Continuous shooting is 1.4 frames per second. The AF system is quite responsive, yet not to be confused with a SLR. On the back of the camera there is this big 3 inch LCS display which is also bright but takes a lot of the batteries power. The difference is quite huge: if the display is turned off, you can take about 1000 pictures with this camera but if it’s turned on, the number is limited to about 400 shots.



The photo quality is impeccable and colors are great, exposures are even better. There is a bit of wide angle distortion at the 28 mm equivalent. Even so, the photos have good center and so are the edge-to-edge sharpness when you use longer focal lengths. Even if this camera does not live to the performance of other models such as the Panasonic Lumix DMC LX3 or the Nikon Coolpix P6000, this camera is still a very good choice for people that are looking for a good camera to take great pictures.
