Canon EOS 50D

Back in August, Canon brought a new digital camera on the market, destined for advanced amateur photographers. The model named EOS 50D is a digital single-lens reflex camera, which means it uses automatic mirror moving technology to display the exact image that will be captured.

The new camera is powered by a new image processor called DIGIC 4, enabling superior color reproduction, sharper details, continuous 6.3 frames per second shooting, as well maintaining the brightness levels equal across the whole image. Operating at faster processing speeds than previous model, the Canon EOS 50D supports Ultra Direct Memory Access cards for faster writing on the image files. The main benefit of this new image processor allows you to capture consecutively up to 90 JPEG pictures on UDMA CF cards, and 60 JPEG or 16 RAW images on Compact Flash cards. In addition, if set to the Face Detection Live Mode, it enables focus of up to 35 faces, which allows you to capture best shots. Bringing the Auto Lighting Optimizer, DIGIC 4 adjusts brightness and contrast automatically, while the Peripheral Illumination Correction reaches 40 EF lenses.

Canon EOS 50D is a 15.1MP(effective) digital camera with the new CMOS APS-C size sensor, enhanced by the gapless micro lenses over each pixel, which reduces noise and increases the sensitivity up to 12,800. The ISOranges between 100 and 3200 and the new CMOS sensor features also 14-bit Analog-to-Digital conversion to create smoother colors and gradations, while image resolutions reach 4752 x 3168 pixels.
If you use both the 12,800 maximum sensitivity and the 4-level High ISO speed noise reduction functionality, you’ll manage to capture images that were previously impossible to reproduce without a strobe or flash light.

Also, you can choose between Standard, Weak, Strong and None noise reduction settings during high-speed shooting in low light conditions.
Sporting a 3-inch Clear View LCD screen of 920K/VGA resolution and 160-degree viewing angle, the camera model shows clearer images and exact colors, so you’ll be sure of what you’ll display later on your HDTV via the HDMI connectivity.

Other features of the Canon EOS 50D include 0.95x viewfinder magnification, high-performance Autofocus, f/5.6 aperture, AF Microadjustment, Creative Full Auto setting for between-shootings image adjustments, 7.1MP sRAW1 and 3.8MP sRAW2 recording formats support, Self-Cleaning Sensor Unit with ultrasonic vibrations shaking dust off, Dust Delete Data software component for automatic remove of sensor spots, and the E-TTL II flash metering system that measures the light in the environment.

Created as an enhancement of the Canon 40D, our camera here is expected to have at least the same success thanks to the new features it brings with, at a retail price of $1,399.
