Now it’s time to see which the best websites optimized for browsing on cell phones are. The winners at the first edition of the ilovemobileweb Awards were chosen by a jury formed by representatives from the dotMobi Advisory Group, Telecoms & Media, Bango, and dotMobi that owns the .mobi domain provider.
.mobi websites are designed for mobile phones, following multiple optimization standards, in order to be well displayed on any handset model.

Winners of all categories will receive a delegate pass to an Informa Telecoms & Media's "Mobile Web" events in 2009, a MAG Observer Membership and a high-end smartphone.

In the Social Networking category, the 1st place is occupied by MocoSpace, where you can make friends, browse through people’s photos, enter chat rooms, create a blog, discuss on forums, check top rated pics, watch users’ videos, send instant messages, eCards and even relationship proposals.




In the Information category the winner is no other than Associated Press, where you have access to the latest news about Local, National, International, Entertainment, Sports, Business, Elections, Wacky News, Technology and Government. It displays text snippets with pictures, and you can perform tasks like search, viral sharing, content ratings and text alerts, customizing location settings and homepage categories.




The best Entertainment mobile provider is News International with The Sun and News of The World. Both sites won also the first place in the Corporate category.




The Sun delivers daily horoscopes, love match and tarot readings from Meg, while you can get informed in real-time about the news on lotto, sports or celebrities gossip. Page 3 is a mobile shop with wallpapers, screensavers and videos with sexy girls.
Other things you can view on The Sun for mobile are: Premier and Champions League goal videos, breaking news, Dream Team info, top tips FAQ, and football scores.

News of The World on the mobile gives you the latest news, showbiz, stories, and horoscopes from Mystic Meg.




In the Commerce and Retail category, the winner is mobitainment. It is an interactive service providing TV programs like Shop4Nop, Cupido TV and Pool Party. At Shop4Nop you can bid via SMS and only the lowest unique bid wins. For example, you could win a nice LCD TV spending only 4 cents.
Cupido TV is a dating program where you can have lots of fun, while Pool Party allows you to subscribe to a pool and get in contact with other poolers for flirting, dating, chatting, or whatever you enjoy.
Next there is the MFun with ringtones, logos, games and wallpapers.




The best Travel-dedicated mobile website is Zagat Survey with Zagat To Go. More than that, you can create and save lists of places to spend your free time, and add reservations or appointments in your calendar application.
