It’s so good to have the best MP3 player portable companion with us while jogging outside, and a nice playlist with our favorite songs… Some like slow music, others something more dynamic like HIP HOP for example, I know that’s my favorite, but the little problem I encountered personally, is that the rhythm of my music never matches with my body speed. Music has very different beats per minute, from HIP HOP with 80-100BPM tempo and house music with 120-135BPM, to Jungle music style with 150-190 BPM and even Speedcore that exceeds 200 BPM tempo.

What this cool gadget here does is to match the songs it plays with your workout pace, and it’s powered by no other than the top audio devices designer, Yamaha.

BODiBEAT is the world’s first portable MP3 player with this capability and the only one existent on the market today. It was just introduced at a retail price of $299.95.

"BODiBEAT maximizes fitness activities, adding an unprecedented level of fun and engagement to exercising," commented David Bergstrom, Director of Business Development, Yamaha Corporation of America. "BODiBEAT provides cutting edge functionality to those who need encouragement to stick with a new exercise regimen, as well as to those who are seasoned fitness buffs.

To synchronize the songs to your movement it uses a heart rate monitor that clips to your ear, while the technology detects impact during running, walking, and dancing, so the device to start playing those songs with beats per minute that match your steps per minute. It does this after categorizing automatically the songs you downloaded from the computer onto its 512MB flash memory, detecting the beats per minute.

In addition to this cool feature it also tracks metrics like distance, time, pace and heart rate to be a complete fitness companion worn on your upper arm.
You can listen to the matching music for up to 12 hours continuously on a full battery charge, during which you can change the operating modes choosing between Free for matching songs to your exercise pace, Fitness for aerobics matching, Training to know when to speed up or slow down, and Music for standard audio player functionality.

That’s not all. BODiBEAT is the best portable MP3 player and allows you to set your preferred times, distances or calorie targets and it will adjust itself accordingly and alert you when you reached them.

When I read 'best portable MP3 player' I was immediately skeptical- better than the iPod? Yeah right.

However, I have to admit that this beats-per-minute sync with the music which is played is very intriguing, and I wish the iPod touch and iPhone had this feature.

Although, the iPod touch could do it since it has the accelerometer- it would just take someone to write the software and put it on the App Store. How about it, any developers out there want to take a crack at this?

That accelerometer thing is just for the auto-rotate feature. To match beats with the heart rate i think you need something connected to your pulse.
