Maybe it’s an exaggeration, and I’m aware of the fact that it really is, but when you have a special someone in your life that works at HP, you just cannot be as objective as you’d like to be. However, I do my best, even if it might seem to you that I put the wrong leg foremost right from the beginning.

Anyway, I strongly believe that HP printers are very well known all over the world, so it doesn’t matter whether I consider that the best home printer is HP branded or not. The company has just announced a new home printer which is said to be the first in the world with a connection to the web. It’s called HP Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart Web and it was designed, according to the manufacturer, “for the digital generation and connected households”.

The home printer comes with extra-large 4.33 inches TouchSmart panel, pre-loaded applications that can be completed with new ones downloaded from websites like Coupons.com, DreamWorks animation, Fandango, Google, Nickeldeon, USA Today, Weathernew Inc. and Web Sudoku, direct access to the Snapfish account the user might have or to HP Creative Studio, multi-functionality, as it copies, faxes, prints and scans, compatibility with PCs that have Wi-Fi or devices with Bluetooth, with the Apple iPhone or the Apple iPod.

“Twenty-five years ago HP invented consumer printing and today we are taking advantage of the digital content explosion to reinvent the category with an entirely new printing platform – powered by touch and empowered by the web”, said Vyomesh Joshi, the Executive Vice President of Imaging and Printing Group at HP. “By giving people access to the content they want at the touch of a finger, the ability to customize their printing experience and create their own apps, and enabling easy ‘one touch’ wireless setup, we are driving a significant shift in how people will be printing in the future.”

The HP Photosmart premium with TouchSmart Web is expected to start selling in the United States sometime during this fall, under a price of $399.
