The Mobile Internet Device developed by BenQ is to bring an intuitive user interface with startup icons on a 4.8-inch large touch-sensitive display, all on the Linux operating system.
If you shake the device the open windows are minimized as thumbnails on the desktop this giving you easier control, reducing the errors caused when pointing to the small icons on common touch screens, eliminating in the same time the minimize-maximize routine.
The Internet Device is running on the Intel Menlow platform powered by an advanced processor.
It sports a built-in 0.3MP web camera and support for a high-speed mobile Internet access for e-mail, instant messaging, music/movies playing on Youtube or Facebook.
BenQ’s new product will be presented at Mobile World Congress 2008 and is meant to deliver to the users a unique experience similar with the one of a PC.
