Be Careful! Your iPod Might Explode in Your Pocket!

This is one of those kinds of news that spreads very fast so maybe you’ve heard the story already, but here it goes...
Danny Williams from Douglasville showed his pocket after his old iPod Nano burst into flames in his pocket.
He said he is still freaked out after seeing the flames coming up to his chest.
It’s true that he had the device since one year and a half but though, this is unacceptable.
Seems that the iPod uses a li-ion battery, being the same type under recall for setting laptops on fire.
Williams told the press that Apple asked him to send back the iPod promising that they’ll replace it.
But let’s be serious, this doesn’t sound satisfying, while the fire could affect other things and the problem could have amplified.
For example Williams works at a kiosk in Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and if TSA would have seen him smoking they could’ve thought he was terrorist or something.
And let's think further, like that this problem could have started when he was driving or sleeping, as his mother said.
And she is right.
Apple didn’t want to discuss this incident.
From what I’ve seen in the news before, something like this might happen if you keep your phone or some similar device in your pocket, but near to your keys or small change.
In William’s case, there was only the iPod and a glassy piece of paper between the device and his leg.
He had luck.
Here's the movie from the news about the incident.
