B-membrane PC

People are coming with all sorts of designs for the next gen PC and I’m sure you have already seen many of these presented here. Although it didn’t participate in this year’s NextGen PC Design competition, the “B-membrane” PC I found over at Yanko Design will surely leave you with a good impression.

It is envisioned by Korean designer Won-Seok Lee. The interesting part is that his PC design does not need any kind of monitor, as Lee has opted for beaming the visual stuff onto any surface you can point the integrated omni-directional projector at.

The futuristic design also includes a membrane touch sensitive keyboard that appears when needed and a seamlessly integrated optical drive. When the computer rests unused, it enters some sort of “screen saver” mode where the projector can beam ambient light effects on any surface you desire.

It looks more like a vase to me, but considering that Macbook Air already integrates some pretty powerful components, this design could end up as a gaming rig as well. The keyboard may prove a bit uncomfortable as the surface on which it appears is curved and it doesn’t provide a palm rest. However, the projection part is a brilliant idea, and if Lee can manage to squeeze some Super Hi-Vision projector inside his design, we could be talking about the next gen HTPC.

What a futuristic (HT)PC vision.

Nothing is more gripping these days as the design and trend our electronic live does go.

But this "B-membrane PC" really shows a bit to much of fiction.

The B-membrane looks more fictitious because it's just a design concept. I don't know if it will ever get commercialized, but hopefully, it may inspire some other PC makers. Anyway, if you see something cool on the Net, let us know.

Well those who doubt the commercialization of B Membrane must reconsider.

Lot of things those which we use as a routine were fantacies of past.

Inventions turn out this way. I remember in 1992 I had used 20 MB Hard Disk XT Computer on DOS OS and Bios. We used DBase III Plus - Archiac RDBM and Basic where you must code everything.

Now with GUI - things just seem fascinating. Computers code for you. They almost replace your thinking - they assist you and there are so many things that we could hardly imagine in 1992 in India.

Same is the case with B Membrane. Computers are an intellectual concept. The metaphysical part is more important. The hardware and physical stuff like monitors, keyboards, mouse are unwarranted stuff. In fact B Membrane represents most realistic model that will turn to become a reality of tomorrow. This may sound absurd. Nevertheless all that sounded absurd few years back is a reality now. Same is the case with new ideas and new designers.
