This new memory stick type was developed by Sony and announced yesterday to come with higher speed capabilities compared to the other memory cards existent today. It was designed to be used with high-performance digital cameras and High Definition camcorders shooting at 5 frames per second speed, which is requires a better flash memory.
Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX cards comes in 4GB and 8GB capacities with a reading speed of 20MB/second and a writing speed of 15MB/second. If used with the MSAC-UAH1 USB adapter the speed increases with about 35% compared to Memory Stick PRO Duos.

Sony takes care of those files you deleted by mistake, and provides the Memory Stick Data Rescue Service, which you can download and recover what you’ve lost.
Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX flash memory cards are designed with an 8-bit parallel interface and have 10 years warranty. They will be available in stores next month.


Currently, on the market you can find the Memory Stick Micro (M2) which come with a special adapter, providing up to 8GB storage capacity, 32Gb theoretically, 160Mb/sec transfer speeds, but are not supported by some computers, while another popular option is the Secure Digital with a maximum capacity of 32GB, 30MB/sec rating. The CompactFlash cards offer storage of up to 64GB and up to 133 MB/s transfer rates.

The price for the new Sony Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX flash memory cards is still unknown.
